Basic questions for FTM who's been shielding!

Sorry I know this is basic but... we haven't taken our baby anywhere at all so far due to pandemic and us being vulnerable. Now vaccinated and ready to picnic outside with friends - yay!

Silly questions for a first time mum here we go:
With my 9mo dd she can sit but not fully crawling yet. For a picnic should I just sit her on the mat with us and hand her bits to eat? She is BLW. Or do we need to sit her in something properly?
Would you bring bibs etc?
Sorry again for the daft questions but it's all new!

Yes just sit her down. Personally when mine was that age he would occasionally topple over so I tended to sit behind him or put a leg behind him just in case. Bib, depends how messy the food is and how prone to dropping things she is. And yes either hand her food or take a little plate for her to help herself from

I assume you will use a buggy for travel (even if just from car to the spot)- strap her in that if any issues but I’d have her on the blanket/ mat with you and a rubber bib round her

If she can sit quite well I’d just sit her on the mat and hand her bits. I’d bring bibs and a spare set of clothes. Happy picnicking!

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 19/04/2021 18:53

Second the clothes but tbh you should always have a spare set of clothes in the baby bag- babies have a habit of making giant messes when you don’t!

Kittykat93 · 19/04/2021 18:56

I dont get your questions tbh ! Just sit her on the mat, or on your lap?? And also take a bib if you dont want her clothes getting dirty, dont bother taking one if it doesn't matter..its not really something you need to ask is it ?

Kittykat93 · 19/04/2021 19:05

Sorry OP my response sounds a lot worse reading it back..I was just a bit confused as to what you were asking as the answers seemed obvious. Try not to overthink these things..you'll have a fab time.

Thanks everyone! Sorry yes I know the questions sound daft @Kittykat93 !Thank goodness for an anonymous forum!! I just literally haven't ever done anything with her except stay in our flat or go for a walk, so everything is new - a bit like how I imagine it normally is having a newborn. She's never even been to a shop!
