Feeling confused

After over a year DD is due to start counselling tomorrow afternoon. I felt that this was the best way to help her deal with things since she doesn't talk to the rest of our family and had started to regress, doing thing she did as a baby but hasn't done for years. She knew I had registered her for counselling and test it was due to lockdowns that she hasn't had any yet. I got the call last week that her sessions would be starting next week so I told her when her first session would be. Since then she has constantly told me she is nervous abiotic it and tonight she took ages to go to sleep and has been restless when she is asleep which I know is due to her worrying about tomorrow. So now I am sitting here wondering if I have done the right thing by insisting she starts counselling or if I should have just let her deal with things her own way

She’s had a year to deal with things her own way.

It’s not worked.

Time to try something different.

You can always stop if she really hates it but sometimes the things we hate are best for us. Eg cough medicine. Tastes minging but sorts the cough. Counselling can be like that. If she can go a few times she will hopefully get used to it and then start benefitting.

Good luck.

You have done the right thing ❤️

Her nerves are normal, I hope she benefits from it

My head tells me I have done the right thing, my heart says she's still a baby who has dealt with more in the last 14 months than the majority of kids her age go through. She knows whatever she says isn't shared so I am hopeful she it helps her to open up to the rest of the family
