Does anyone know the Malvern hills well?

I’m trying to find a spot to scatter Mum’s ashes in the Malvern hills as she loved walking there.

I’ve never been myself and researching via google maps doesn’t really give a sense of the views.

She always joked that if she was old and ill, to just leave her on an exposed mountain top to die. So I’m looking either something that would fit that or that is particularly lovely.

It can’t be too much of a scramble as her 75 year old, reasonably fit, husband is coming.

There’s an easily accessible trail at Black Hills. The path leading up from the car park is surfaced and rises gently and there are benches along the route. From the top you can see Worcestershire, the Severn Vale and across to Herefordshire to the Black Mountains. We walked on further than the easy access trail to Jubilee Hill and enjoyed stunning views of the surrounding countryside as well as being able to watch para gliders riding on the thermals.

That would work then. We could walk along until we find a “Mum” sort of spot.

I would park near "The Wyche" pub. Just on the Hereford side of the pass across the hills at that point is an old wrought iron bus shelter with a staircase next to it. Take the stairs up to to the ridge and head south as far as you like, the next tallest peak is an easy enough walk for anyone without mobility impairments but there are stunning views along the whole ridge so finding a spot that feels right will not be difficult.

Hi OP, so sorry for your loss. The Malvern Hills are beautiful. I agree with both of these suggestions and would just add a word to the wise to check the direction of the wind before you scatter - this is a voice of experience having ended up covered in late FIL's ashes... It certainly lightened the mood. I'm sure wherever you pick will be perfect for your mum.
