What kind of house did you grow up in?

And has it affected how you keep your own house?

My childhood home was very messy and chaotic so I keep my home ridiculously clean and ordered, even with two toddlers.

Very big country house filled with beautifully polished antiques, dogs and fag smoke from my parents and all their friends who were always round. Endless dinner parties.

My house is a largish scruffy London terrace, and only has a couple of antiques. The rest is scruffy battered crap, and we're too busy working to have many parties - certainly nothing like my hardcore partying parents in the 80s.

Both houses are happy family homes, just quite different. I always longed for the bustle and excitement of London growing up in the country, and I really love it now.
