What strange thing made you feel like an adult?

I have just been insured on my DH's car and now I feel like an adult! I find this slightly bizarre seeing as we have 2 children, have been married for ages and have bought and sold 4 houses over the years!

What weird thing made you feel like an actual grown up?

Remembering to re-order oil before the damn tank ran out and we have to prop one end up with a brick. When we were younger, we were just too broke to afford it half the time, and then when we got a bit older, the gauge was broken, so unless you literally stuck your head in the tank you wouldn't know if it was nearly empty or not.

I think we managed to order it on time (before it hit empty) twice ever in our adult lives. And we were both like, wow, look how adult we are! Thankfully, we now have a biomass boiler and it just magically re-fills itself.

I think the most grown up responsible thing I've ever done is to set up life insurance when I became a single mum for the second time a few years ago. That above all made me feel like an adult.

And reading the eulogy at my dads funeral when he died quite suddenly. That felt far too grown up.

Mine are signing the dentist forms for my children, I think I must've been impessed that my mum.did this 'official'thing when I was a child. And doing a big wee! I remember hearing my mum and being amazed by the sound of a big wee!!

An estate agent coming to the door to value our house and saying 'Mrs Flute? I'm Bob Brick from Bricks Estates'. It is our first house and we were considering selling after six years but he was so complimentary (I know that's their job!) that we decided to stay. DH was at work so the agent came and sat in our lounge and we talked about 'the market' and postcodes and grown up stuff and I did lots of nodding (I'm early 30s).
