This is all over FB today, clapping at 7 tonight.

It's very, very sad what is happening to this little girl but what good is clapping going to do?

What good does clapping do for anything?

It’s an outlet for emotion isn’t it, and potentially a way for people to feel they are showing support.

Plus if it increases awareness of childhood cancer - both for early diagnosis and to increase funding for research which is currently woefully underfunded then I’m all for it.

I feel very sorry for this child. I feel even worse for her parents. They are going through something that no one should have to go through. Words cannot describe how terrible it is.

But please, no more clapping.

The family are doing a brilliant job of raising awareness through their posting during this tragic story. A clap isn't going to raise awareness.

I’m viewing it more as a nation collectively applauding a little girl for her bravery. I’ve never stood on my doorstep and clapped before, I too have commented on the pointlessness of it in the past but she is so small and even though I don’t know her personally, I bet 8 month old Azaylia would love to see many people clapping their hands together (as all babies do!) if she was able to.

Plus they’ll be many people who will ask why so many people were clapping, then they’ll learn about Azaylia’s story too which will increase awareness and possible charity donations, petition signings for more funding, etc

This type of childhood cancer is far too common. Childhood cancer research is also woefully underfunded. ANYTHING which raises awareness, contributes towards early diagnosis and the need to donate where possible, is a positive thing. I doubt anyone thinks this is going to save her life. But if it shows support for her and her parents why is it a negative thing?

If you look at Ashley Cains Instagram account on his stories it explains what the clap will mean to them and his family :-) they want people to send in videos so they can make a video for a memory - that’s why
