First a haunted toothbrush and now my new one has an agenda

I had to get rid of my last Philips sonicare after it started to switch itself on in the night. It was either an electrical fault or paranormal activity. I got a replacement but it takes over 24 hours to charge fully. I use it a few days, put it back on the charger and charging back to full takes forever. The haunted one never did that. Is this a new thing with Philips? Does anyone have one that also takes forever? I don't know if this is the new normal or there's a fault .

Have you considered contacting an exorcist?

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 13/04/2021 16:13

or - if it turns out not to be supernatural - having your electric outlet checked?

whenthebellsring · 13/04/2021 17:20

The ghosts keep using it. Won't give it time to charge, that's why.

Could be a fault from the outlet or the toothbrush. I'd try to charge something else on there - see how it charges - so you can rule out the electric outlet. Or plug the toothbrush somewhere else and if it charges faster, then it's not the brush.

Perhaps the ghost of the old toothbrush is intimidating the new one 😱

I had a Phillips toothbrush that kept turning itself on took me a while to figure out why it was always dead!

I have a sonicare toothbrush and it takes forever to charge. It’s not new, several years old. It’s always been this way.

I haven’t consulted an exorcist as yet because I thought I’d check first to see if others have a problem with never ending charge time. Whenthebellsring. I hadn’t thought of that but it makes complete sense. Though do ghosts have teeth? It seems possible that the ghost of the old toothbrush is furious with the new one. It’s doing it to get back at me I should think as I chucked it in the skip for small electrical appliances at the dump. It must be livid. I don’t think taking over 24 hours to fully charged when it’s only been used for a few minutes twice a day for a few days is particularly good though. The old (haunted) one was sorted after charging overnight even after weeks of use. I might take it back to argos. Then I’ll probably have two furious toothbrush phantoms taunting me

I don't know but the ones using your toothbrush clearly do or they just like the sound of itGrin

yellowsubmarines · 13/04/2021 18:06

Burn some sage tonight and take back ownership of your new toothbrush with some sort of firm and commanding chant OP. Tell the haunted toothbrush to move into the light of the dump incinerator. While you're at it, it might be worth having your electrics looked at. I have a several years old Oral B and I keep it on the charger when it's not being used. The 'charging' light turns off once it's fully charged (takes less than 15 mins after a few mins use) and it sits patiently until next required. It's never turned itself on or done anything naughty to my knowledge.

Though do ghosts have teeth?

Maybe the ghosts aren't cleaning their non existent teeth Shock

My old toothbrushes get decommissioned to tile grout and toilet cleaning duties.

Thanks for the interpretations of what might be going on here. The sodding thing still isn’t at full charge and has been sat on its charger since midnight yesterday. It’s going back to argos and I’m hoping whatever I replace it with, the old, discarded sonicare with a vendetta will leave it in peace.

I don’t have any sage. Will oregano do?

Oregano is a good substitute because afterwards you can use it to make a nice Greek salad.
