As in, retail therapy shopping/shops that can open from today.

I’ll be trying to get my eyebrows done and will pop into a few places if there isn’t a queue to get in Smile

Only supermarket shopping, hoping everyone else will be busy elsewhere
Same here! I never liked shopping anyway but hoping now that supermarkets are not the only leisure destination they will be mire peaceful. Haven’t been to Waitrose or M&S for over a year now as have to queue to get in. Am now an Asda/Lidl/ loyal customer as no queuing nonsense.

I'd like to change our library books and depending on what town is like it would be nice to pop into a few places.

Not going shopping today. Youngest has an injection at Boots on Thursday, so might pop in some then if it's not crazy.

We are going swimming today (lesson), zoo tomorrow, children's group Thurs and farm on Sunday. Loving having plans Grin

I have my 36 week scan at the hospital and it's my last week at work! Can't wait to baby shopping next week (won't go at the weekend) x

bigbluebus · 12/04/2021 08:39

No I won't be rushing out to the shops. Don't really need anything and I'm certainly not going just to browse. I won't be going to the gym either - suspended my membership last October - before lockdown - due to the inability of some of the members to follow distancing rules and the lack of willingness of the owners to enforce them. I will be doing my own exercise class in my house this morning as I have been doing for the last 6 months.

No, will be sticking to shopping online. Less risk, no parking fees, no crowds and delivery drivers wear masks and SD unlike lots in shops.

piglet81 · 12/04/2021 09:10

Yup, taking DS to Clark’s at 11 and he needs new clothes too. He’s had a growth spurt in each lockdown! Smile

Yes and to the pub later, so happy!Grin

Tal45 · 12/04/2021 09:13

No I'll just continue to get stuff online until shopping feels more normal and relaxed. I don't want to have to queue for every shop.

I went to West End of London today and there were huge queues outside Primark, H&M, Urban Outfitters, Brandy Melville and Subdued (off Carnaby Street). Luckily I was just whipping into John Lewis for a look at soft furnishings and no queue. It was so lovely to be back there.

I went to my local Debenhams and it was like any other day. Got a few Clarins stuff half price, Benefit stuff for the girls for Christmas and a pair of boots. Went looking for clothes but CBA to rummage.

But it really hit home how sad it is closing the store. Whilst looking through the Clarins stuff a lady approached to have a rummage so I moved to one side and we struck a conversation about lipstick etc and she had a huge bunch of flowers. I commented and said how beautiful they were and she said they were a lady in the underwear department as she helped her a few yrs ago to choose a bra as she’d had a double mastectomy. It was to say thanks for the years of helping her. I felt so emotional. That is why its sad These places are closing.

Online shopping is unfair.

RoSEbuds6 · 13/04/2021 17:45

I agree with you MrsDThomas one of the reasons I am so pro-John Lewis is that most of the staff I see in there have been there for years, and I want them still to have a job. The Debenhams on Oxford Street is boarded up now.

Zancah · 13/04/2021 17:51

Yep, I went both yesterday and today actually. To the big city and then a closer, out of town shopping park.
Big city was v busy, lots of queues but I went early and got out just as the crowds were hitting. Did the same with the shopping park, went early and the car parks were really filling up as I was coming away.

lynsey91 · 13/04/2021 18:00

No, I didn't go shopping yesterday or to the pub or to the hairdresser.

I don't need anything and can't be bothered queueing especially when it is so cold. Not really a pub person although would quite like to have a meal but, again, not sitting out in the cold to eat.

No way am I going anywhere near a hairdresser yet. I normally have a cut and colour which takes 3 or more hours. There is no way in that time she is not going to have other customers and the shop is quite small.
