I'm sure there has been a thread but I can't see it. Just watching the tribute.

What a woman she was. A real inspiration and someone that looked like she'd be a great laugh down the pub. R.I.P. Sabine.

AdoraBell · 11/04/2021 22:33

Amazing woman.

Crockof · 11/04/2021 22:42

Thank you both, an unsung hero in a man's world

She was incredible. A real inspiration and so full of life. It's hard to believe she is gone.

SheldonesqueHasTheWeevils · 11/04/2021 22:50

The absolute joy when she was driving gave her a beauty you don’t see in many.

What a talent.

What a woman.

What an inspiration.

What a shame she was lost so young.

Only a month late. Even Pistonheads had a thread at the time of her death.

Wolfiefan · 11/04/2021 23:29

It’s not late if you’ve only just managed to watch the tribute. Like me.
An inspirational woman.

thenightsky · 11/04/2021 23:30

I wish I could have experienced a lap of The Ring in her 'taxi'

Sad

Well beat me with a paddle. I heard about her untimely death but have only just caught the program about her life. From everything I have read about her I do not think she would berate me for living

Loved her on Top Gear, but did not realise just how incredible she was until I watched the tribute.

She was absolutely bonkers... and brilliant. Fearless, incredibly talented and just full of the joy of what she did best.

And what an inspiration to other women!

You obviously have no interest in motorsport then.
Wolfiefan · 12/04/2021 00:13

Wow. Maybe take the vitriol elsewhere.
I just hadn’t watched this particular programme. Because erm life and stuff.
Anyway. She remains an inspiration and was a truly positive force of nature.

VeniVidiWeeWee · 12/04/2021 00:38

She was indeed inspirational. However, my point remains, if you gave a damn about Ms Schmitz you would have posted a month ago.

CatNameChange101 · 12/04/2021 01:06

So would you prefer no one said anything when a thread was posted about her? Leave her legacy to dwindle? What utter twatty tosh.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 12/04/2021 01:14

I’m suddenly reminded of the Dave Gorman sketch about ‘extractor fans’ for some reason.

Berating people for not posting soon enough or for posting when they’ve just watched a tribute program is a special kind of one upmanship.

RIP Sabine.

WindyRose · 12/04/2021 01:22

YouTube has a lot of videos on Sabine's life and career, it's been really interesting watching them as I've admired her for many years. She had an infectious laugh, great smile and I loved her sense of humour.

So sad but it proves the old saying 'only the good die young'. RIP Sabine and hope you have fun at the big racetrack in the sky...someone special to me will be there too.

orangejuicer · 12/04/2021 01:42

Another one here who has just caught up on the programme (which hasn't been out long) and who likes motorsport.

She was a total legend and it is a real shame to lose her so young.
Watching the programme I just wanted to hear from her and for her to hear what the others were saying about her Sad

HypocriteHunter · 12/04/2021 07:16

Well done you for being able to give your damn before anyone else.

The thing is, some of us may have been too busy to have watched the tribute when it first aired, didn’t see a thread to post on or weren’t able to post but that won’t have stopped us lamenting the loss of a talented, vibrant woman and discussing it with colleagues or family when we first heard of her death.

The beauty shone out of Sabine.

I would guess it doesn’t shine so easily out of those who choose virtuous competitive grieving instead of celebrating a fabulous woman who lived her life well.

No beauty in that.

But the ugliness shines out of your posts.

LudoBear · 12/04/2021 07:22

...who?.

HypocriteHunter · 12/04/2021 07:25

Wtaf? I didn't know there was a time limit on giving a damn. Shame on you.

Congratulations to VeniVidiWeeWee for the wankiest comments I’ve ever read on here 👏🏼.

Is your Google broken, @ludobear?

Amazing woman.

DoctorTwo · 12/04/2021 11:29

I heard about Sabine's death on Twitter, and briefly thought about starting a thread celebrating her life, so I'm glad you did @Crockof.

I believe she is still the only woman to win the endurance race at the Nurburgring. Not only that, she won it two years running. She fully deserved her title: Queen of the Nordschleife.

I'm sure many of us have a favourite 'Sabine' quote or moment; mine is just after Clarkson jubilantly told her he's gone round her beloved Nurburgring in under 10 minutes in his Jaguar S-Type. Her reply "I could do that in a van" was testament to her humour and self belief. That she got within 10 seconds of his time speaks for her skill and refusal to back off even when scared and the van failing under her.

Like you OP, I loved her. She was funny, talented and nowhere near as famous as she should have been.
