I was just thinking about my younger years and remember my parents had a book of green shield stamps, i wondered if I had imagined these stamps so googled and it says it was like a loyalty scheme where you could spend stamps on products but it changed when Tesco withdrew and then it became Argos and money only, no stamps. I had no idea that Argos originated from Green Shield Stamps.

I am in my fifties so dont expect many of you to remember them

I remember them! My mum worked in a petrol station & if customers weren't collecting them she would have theirs. I also fondly remember the giant blow up snickers she got for us too Grin

Although it was probably a blow up marathon Grin

@DobbyTheHouseElk

I’ve got some of the Esso glasses. My mum used to save them up and get loads of things. Occasionally the lovely garage man would bung mum a few extra ones.
Worth quite a bit now if they have the Tiger on them

No they don’t have the tiger on them. They are the 80’s style with the distinctive lines up the glass.

Oh the esso glasses, my dad had a job which he used a works van for and he got to keep the glasses when filling it up and I’d not seen anything so posh (to my eyes anyway).

Embassy cigarette cards.......my sisters and I learned valuable maths skills at a v young age from counting my granny’s cigarette cards and working out what she could get then and there or how long she would need to save to get something quite swanky.
