Bloating!

I have IBS. I've followed a low FODMAP diet - worked at first but the bloating and discomfort returned after a few weeks.

I've been looking at supplements - apple cider vinegar and aloe Vera tablets but with mixed reviews/results.

Can anyone recommend a miracle product?? Bloating and wind (Blush) are the worst symptoms.....I already take a probiotic - but hasn't had a noticeable effect.

Thanks.

Kefir?

Kefir, a probiotic drink may help alleviate many of the problems related to IBS. Kefir helps with irritable bowel syndrome by working on the causes of the complaint. If you are lactose tolerant, fermented milk or milk kefir is an excellent way to heal your gut

I know you are taking a probiotic but kefir has been proven to raise good bacteria in the gut

Thanks....do I need to take it daily?

Small chance, but please get checked out if you are female. Bloating may just be something else.

Hope not. Watch for scammy supplements, the acid in your stomach kills most bacteria.

I don't think there is one miracle product and unfortunately it probably boils down to dedication to exclusion 'diets' to work out what foods are causing it, slowly reintroducing them to test and so on.

Not all probiotics are created equal symprove gets some good reviews and was recommended to me by a gastric consultant yearss ago but it is (for me) too expensive to use continuously.

Maybe worth trying to get tested for SIBO or fructose malabsorption if you haven't. SIBO can be treated with specific antibiotics but washing off the sugar and dairy will help.

Over the counter there's buscopan, wind settlers, activated charcoal etc.

Hope you find some relief OP!

Peppermint tea/capsules ready help.
I found cutting out gluten and dairy helped me.

I’ve had IBS for about 30 years - three things worked really well for it: colonics; pregnancy; low carb diet. The latter I do for T2D but has really helped the IBS.

Thanks for all the replies.

I've had a scan as my markers were slightly raised but all normal.

I've cut out dairy, wheat, apples and all other bloating/windy foods.

I've reintroduced onions and some other bits but trying to keep them to a minimum.

I take peppermint capsules and drink peppermint tea after my evening meal.

I cannot shift the bloating and discomfort (and the wind 😳) I was going to book a colonic but have read up on it and a bit worried about it being an unhelpful procedure....

I've also really cut down on sugar and drink at least 2 litres of water per day.

Thanks for update. Glad you have been checked. Don't let some unqualified charlatan stick a tube up your backside. I don't know how people do get qualified for this. Presumably there is a way but it all leads to naturopath, nutritionist and other scammers.

I hope you can find a real solution.

Def a food diary to see if it’s certain things: Garlic and onions can’t be an irritant and are in so many foods!
