Generic multivitamin for women?

Anyone has any ideas for a good multi vitamin for mid 30s female me? I know the jury is out on whether these are actually money spent on colourful wee (!) but perhaps something that gives me a bit of a boost?

Some relevant info - was diagnosed with severe Vitamin D deficiency ten years ago (brown skinned person living in the West/north for over a decade) and occasionally take high dose vitamin d but largely forget to...

Also appear to have a tendency towards low mood (see vitamin d situation above!) and have bouts of low mood and energy so perhaps B vitamins wouldn’t hurt..

The problem with Well woman etc is iron is one thing that makes me very constipated. I ideally need something without Iron but can’t find any.

Diet is alright I think - home cooked meals last felt but FT work and two small ones 5 and 1 year old do drain us!

And finally would like to avoid taking multiple separate pills as I clearly can’t even manage to remember to take my high dose Vitamin D for my very real diagnosed deficiency!!

Thanks for any help :)

Well firstly just because you were low in vitamin D ten years ago doesn't mean you are now. I was low in vitamin d a couple of years ago and I am prone to low vitamin d so I take a high does 2000 IU about once a week in additional to a general vitamin.

Do you like Berocca? I have found having that on a daily basis is a nice routine and somehow is a bit nicer than a multivitamin pill.

Otherwise I have taken centrum or Holland & barrett vitamins. You might just need to look up the ingredients and get one with lower iron if that's what you want.

All the women doctors I know take Pregnacare Conception - even in their 40s and definitely not TTC. It’s relatively cheap and one of the few tested multivitamins.

Spatone for iron, although really it’s a prophylactic. If you think you have a deficiency, get tested and try a few tablet variations on your GP’s recommendations. Although, if money is no object, you can take Spatone with every meal to achieve a similar uplift without so many digestive issues. Give up caffeine to help absorption.

Speaking as a fellow brown person, you’re losing out forgetting your vitamin D3. It will change your life.

Thanks both. I definitely do not wish to take extra iron in any form so will keep looking for an iron free one. Pregnacare massively constipates me as I discovered with both pregnancies so off I go to find an iron free one!

I take a Naturelo multivitamin: NATURELO One Daily Multivitamin for Women 50+ (Iron-Free) - with Natural Food-Based Vitamins, Fruit & Veg Extracts - Best for Health in Women Over Fifty - Non-GMO - 60 Vegan Capsules | 2 Month Supply https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B071L78LLB/ref=cmswwrcppapiglttfabcFRS5CH3N371JV4RY4D9G?psc=1

If you look at the link there's a version without iron - it says it's aimed at aged 50+ women, but I don't think that's necessarily an issue. Not cheap but Ingredients are high quality.

Holland and barrett radiance

Thanks everyone!! Super useful. Will look into the 50 plus one but it appears that the berroca one actually might tick all my boxes - they do tablet forms of the drinkable tablet which suit me well and do not contain iron but give me the other stuff I am looking for. I do also need to get back to actually taking my vitamin D.

I’m in my early 30s and since January I’ve been taking the centrum women multivitamin. My nails are now so much stronger and grow much quicker.

DSIL swears by these www.justvitamins.co.uk/multivitamins/multivitamins-one-a-day.aspx

I take the Multibionta ones with probiotics. Has 200% of vitamin D so keeps my levels ok, I was once very deficient so I aware I need to take it all year.

It's got a full range including the B vits and as I've got no gallbladder and my tummy can play up, the probiotics I think help me.

They're £12 for 90 so not too expensive.

Lots of children’s vitamins also say they are suitable for adults and many don’t contain iron so may be worth a look.
