Chance of breaking your finger by bending it back?

Unlikely isn't it?

I'd have thought it was more ligament/muscle damage.

Any experience?

(Who weight fell from a small height onto fingers which bent back, 10 year old, currently at minor injuries)

More likely a dislocation of ligament/muscle damage which to be fair with a finger is probably just as bad (potentially worse) than just breaking it.

Dislocation OR ligament damage

I had a gentle feel of the joint and it felt the same as the one on this other hand.
The pain was from the knuckle down, rather than the knuckle.
Lots of swelling but didn't look wonky or out of place to the eye.
I think it's likely just a nasty stretch of ligaments

I did that to my little finger on a dry slope and it did cause a break. Basically, the tip of the bone just under the knuckle broke off, so my finger would sort of dislocate a bit when I fully straightened it. I thought it was muscular, didn't know there was an actual break until they x-rayed it.

I had to have a mini pin put in to stop me straightening it while the bone regrew/healed (I'm not entirely sure which) but it all healed up fine eventually, just a very tiny scar where the pin was.

I managed it. Split the bone from knuckle to knuckle. Although mine was caused by a horse
