Best online job sites?

DS (16) is looking for a casual part-time job..There are many online job sites. So far he has registered for alerts from Indeed, which sends a few relevant results daily. He's wondering which other sites he should sign up to. Any recommendations? Some just seem to scrape ads from other sites rather than have real adverts of their own, and some give poor quality search results.

Sectors of interest are lifeguarding (he's qualified), sport, leisure, tutoring, retail. However he ideally wants a flexible 0-4 hour contract so he can fit work around his studying/sport and increase his hours in the holidays. Are there any obvious go-to sites for these types of employers?

I have a few friends whose kids are lifeguards and also football referees which pays well at about £25 a game. I guess he would look on council websites if he wants to lifeguard in a council run leisure centre.

Sorry not sure about the reffing but I would think maybe he could just contact local football leagues ?

Been a few years since I lifeguarded but they were always in need then - I'd get him to drop cv off at local pools and v likely get zero hour contract, esp as they reopen in the next week

Also look at holiday clubs for summer (Google will find them near you - they often need lifeguards)

Mc Donalds always seem to be hiring - my eldest son has done this through Uni.
He has also worked at kiddies theme parks operating rides over th summer.
My Ds2 has cleaned at his old school for a couple of hours after school - good pay and kept his weekends free.

As an employer, I pay to advertise on indeed and Total Jobs which seem to be the market leaders for job boards, especially for non-specialist, lower paid roles. For tutoring, he would probably be better contacting companies directly (eg Kip Magrath who I know hire 6th formers) or advertising himself privately on Facebook in local groups.

Reed is quite a good one

@Thedutchessofhastings I just looked at the Kip McGrath web site and it says you have to be an experienced teacher. Are you sure they hire 6th formers? They can’t apply on the website.

Thedutchessofhastings · 09/04/2021 22:32

@FictionalCharacter no, you are right. Sorry - my mistake. Its Explore Learning that hire 6th formers. I used to teach and had some p16 students who had part time tutoring jobs but I got the companies muddled up.

In my local park, there are kids holiday clubs teaching football and tennis. He could find those and do it weekends and holidays. Or if he's entrepreneurial, get an experienced team together with DB checks and insurance and arrange them.

@Thedutchessofhastings Thanks - will look at Explore.
