Toddler refusing calpol

My 2 year old has a temp of 39/40 Degrees, he's normally fine with calpol but flat refusing or today. I've tried everything I can think of even trying to force him to have it but he spits it out. He's still bf but refusing all other liquids and food.

Any tips please?

Bit horrible but you have to get him on your lap, use one of the syringe Calpol squirter things and keep his head tipped back until it's swallowed. It's for the greater good !

First of all, is he stripped down to his nappy or a vest and pants. Ventilation so slightly open window.
Plenty fluids
Is he crabbit or unsettled?...or unwell in any other way?..
If he’s quite happy and you’ve done the above could you re check in 30 mins and see if it’s come down itself.
If you really want to give calpol, have you a spoon or syringe, I didn’t really give mine the option of not taking it.
Don’t pander just say this is what we are doing and be firm.

Might be a 2 man job. Sometimes a different flavour works some are strawberry/orange/cherry.

squirt small amounts into side of cheek and massage cheek or under chin or blow gently in face can stimulate a swallow. Then a drink of juice. Might take a while though. Does insure he gets it.

He might spit it out if you squirt it in all at once and if you put it in something you need to make sure he drinks it all or you’re under dosing and it will do little and you can’t repeat for 4 hours. Obviously you need to be vigilant with a small child and a high temp. It may be you just have to wrap him up and give him it, not fun but needs must.

Good luck op, I’ve got 4 kids so plenty practise it’s not fun
