Recommend me a mug

I need to get a new mug for taking in to work and with, you know, the whole "covid" situation I can't really go in to shops and man handle the mugs like I normally would when choosing one.

What mugs do you have that hold a good amount of coffee, isn't too expensive (because this will be a work mug) but has a good feeling in your hand - so a good sturdy handle, comfortable etc.

I have a couple of favourite mugs at home but I refuse to take them in to school with me in case anything bad happens to them, and they're not part of a range so I can't just go and get a duplicate of either of them Sad.

Thank you, wise tea and coffee drinkers of MN!

I like Dunoon but they aren't cheap.

Temptation Gifts website often has discounts on them, range of shapes and sizes with good large handles.

Have a look at Cornishware. I have a couple that I love and you can get it personalised so that it doesn't go missing at work!!

Cath Kidston. Had mine a good while and never faded in the dishwasher unlike my monsoon Denby mugs.

Depending on what you teach, the Dunoon ones have lots of subject based ones too, the Glencoe design holds 2 normal cups of tea, DH had the periodic table and world maps ones.

Cornishware (blue stripes!) have a seconds sale on atm- I’m slowly replacing all my dinnerware this way and the “flaws” are unnoticeable.

Their mugs are lovely and solid, definitely not flimsy!

Another vote for Morrisons bone china mugs.
I've bought them all now.
Lovely size. They had seaside ones to begin with, then animal designs.
Hare, birds, collie. I just think they're brilliant for the price.

I love the Sainsburys Home collection bone china oversized mug for £5.50 which are the only ones I use now. Its plain white, has a good feel, but not too heavy- especially when full! Sainsburys also do a cheaper white porcelein mug for £3, but its much heavier and not as nice to hold. More clunky than their bone china one.

As kettles are currently banned in my workplace I take a Chilly's food flask filled with tea and use that instead. Drink straight from the flask. My tea is still hot and drinkable by the time I leave after 5pm (I drain the dregs when I'm packing up).

In pre-covid days when we were allowed to use kettles I had a cheap thermal cup but it only lasted a couple of hours.
