Not sure where the best place is to put this. My son is interested in facts especially history and geography. We have some fact books and top trumps which he likes. Does anyone know of any good websites or games? He watches Horrible Histories too which I love too. I’m not sure what I was taught at school certainly nothing interesting as that!
Thanks

National Geographic have a good website, and junior part for kids. They also do a magazine which is lovely, maybe monthly? Can get in supermarkets.
Have you tried CBBC? Also if you just type in, say, volcano facts for kids, the internet will send up all you need.

My son loved the usborne books with when he was about that age.

For geography he was at his happiest with a book of maps

Came on to say National Geographic magazine! They also have some encyclopedia type books with facts about the World and animals, geography rather than history based. Not aware of any history type material other than horrible histories unfortunately.

National geographic book, magazines and also TV.

Also if he likes to learn and test his knowledge have a look at the bbc bitesize website.

The websites for tourists attractions are often good for resources for children too

National Geographic have a junior magazine and Usbourne books are good (much cheaper on Amazon rather than through a mlm person).

Our school use espresso, a fab website that has loads of information on all subjects aimed at primary age. Twinkl is probably worth a look too.

I have a history mad DD and we had several Usborne books incl. a whole set of British History ones.
There is a series calle Beginning History with several books about events like Gunpowder Plot, Great Fire of London.
Extraordinary Lives is a series about famous persons, history and current
DK Children has books about periods in history, "Eyewitness" they are aimed at slightly older children, K2 but DD managed them ok when we read them together and talked about them.

We raided the libary section several times over, I wanted her to read more than just Britain and especially more than just the Tudors. Facinating as they are as a dysfunctinal dynasty, I think there is too much focus on it.
We had books about France, the French Revolution, Incas, Mayas and Actex, Spain, America's War of Independence and whatever else DD liked. Also lots of books about historical figures.

Brainbox games. Lots of different themes.

We have a Usborne jigsaw of a world map, and another of the British Isles. They are gorgeous. I think they sell one of Europe too.

BBC Bitesize is brilliant.

I also love Crash Course - you can find it on YouTube. They have a series called CrashCourse Kids - I don't know if that would be suitable for a 6 year old but my older children love it.

Thanks everyone just catching up now!
We have brainbox the world which he loves. Will have a look at National Geographic magazine. I’m amazed how much I’ve learnt too from him! Shows history in a new light!

For geography a good website is Flags & Countries it has got a quiz game with all the different flags of the world's countries, it starts off quite easy but then progressively gets harder. My 9 year old really found it really fun to learn the flags of the different countries this way. She scored 100% on the flag quiz they had in Geography.

DK make great kid friendly encyclopaedias for kids on lots of topics. My son also loved Maps by Aleksandra Mizielinska and the see inside……. books.
