Universal credit

Me and my partner currently claim universal credit, my partner already has a bank loan but is wanting to take out another loan, I was wondering if this could possibly affect our universal credit claim in any way?

@marchez
The second loan would be to pay off an existing loan and to buy a new car.
So would I need to report this to universal credit?

As far as I understand, it shouldn't affect anything as it is borrowed income ( non taxable) rather than earnings (taxable). However obviously if it is some kind of loan to start a business, or of a very high amount, you need to discuss this with UC!

If you're worried I would be inclined to enter a journal message stating that you are borrowing x amount from y bank and have the paperwork to prove this if required. That it is your understanding that this won't affect your UC claim but you are declaring it on the grounds of transparency.

Hi all, I’m having to move again, I have a private landlord who was amazing for 3 years but now he is selling and new buyers do not want a sitting tenant. I’m finding it so hard to find something that’s decent and within my budget (I work part time) However my cousins neighbour is renting her house which is social housing. She said she will only charge me £1500 a month and provide me with a tenancy agreement, will universal credit pay that much on a social sector property?
