Are Pets at Home selling pets at the moment?

I know they are open, as essential retail, but don't have the gerbils/hamsters/Guinea pigs etc out on display. But does anyone know if they are still selling them at the moment, or if not, when they will restart? Were they selling them between lock downs? I'm hoping maybe they will start again when non-essential retail reopens maybe?

Rescue hamsters are usually in there because they are bitey AF.

Re the double height cage - not all pigs are happy climbing. I have one who gets to use the upstairs all on his own as the other can't make it up the ramp.

Well this is about guinea pigs, not hamsters, but the ones we saw, and the ones we adopted weren't bitey at all.

My two were actually quite timid when I got them. Very loud and friendly now. I have never once been bitten.

Generally...... GPs prefer to be in a cage thats all on one level and with as much space to go bonkers in as possible - with somewhere to hide but not too much clutter. With free access to food and hay and running about 24 hours a day. You also need at least two as they get lonely otherwise.
Shop bought cages (unless theres a new one available I havent heard of) are too small.
This website is a fantastic source of help - ours lived in a cage as shown top left of the screen. Grids bought online/b&q with a piece of correx that I cut to fit (but you can also buy ready cut to fit now I think) with cable ties to secure together. Fleece blankets and towels underneath (washed every few days)

Unfortunately guinea pigs are quite stupid and can't always manage a ramp. I think some people carpet it and if that doesn't work nail on sides to the ramp. They are really funny, esp when they hear the fridge. Anything that rustles they think is theirs. They tell me off when I give them the wrong food. They sun bathe and chill out. They have no tendency to bite at all. They still hate me catching them but have got easier over years. One of mine has a tumour, we'll be devastated when he goes.
