Toddler days out

I have a friend who has recently been bereaved Sad and I am trying to think of nice afternoons/activities/days out with a toddler. She's not in a position to leave the toddler due to not having any family nearby. Thanks in advance Daffodil.

When mine were toddlers, the lovely thing about that time is you don't need to go anywhere particular.

A walk round the block can be great is you pass a digger or a bin lorry or a robin sitting on the wall or a particularly good spider's web, or even an interesting stick.
Depending on where you live, just going to a park's playground, or a beach, or a walk along the canal, or to feed the ducks, or the local woods can all be an adventure. Anywhere where there is a bridge over a river or even tiny brook. Anywhere where there are puddles to jump into.
Petting farms are always lovely. Some garden centres have fishes to look at. Some larger pet shops have small animals to look at.
Mine used to love swimming. As things open up again the libraries always have story sessions and craft sessions which were fab (and free).
If you have gardens, then that opens up a whole lot of things from water play to chalking to digging in mud to creating a sandpit.
They can do a bit of "cooking" with you.
You can make a den.
You really don't need to go for "big" days out. Smile

In normal times I might agree with PP but we have spent a whole year doing walks and playing in the garden so the novelty had probably worn off quite a lot!

OP i would say a farm is the best day out for toddlers. Maybe the zoo or a county park, especially if you can find one with a splash park or paddling pool.

If you wanted to give us an idea of your location then people could give more specific ideas.
