Really fancy making a chicken pie but my ready rolled pastry is a week out of date. Looks okay, smells okay and has been kept in the fridge, can I still use it

Yeah. Go for it. If it were the chicken absolutely not, but the pastry yes.

Notanorthadontist · 31/03/2021 17:26

I used some last week that went out of date in January. It was absolutely fine.

notacooldad · 31/03/2021 17:27

Along as it looks and smells fine then I would.
Mine was out of date the other week but as soon as you looked at it you could tell it wasn't right.

PerseverancePays · 31/03/2021 17:36

It’s like processed bread; if it doesn’t have the blue mould spots , it’s fine.

BluTangClan · 31/03/2021 18:30

It smells slightly vinegary if it's past its best.

Chasingsquirrels · 31/03/2021 18:32

I would if it looks & smells fine.

Mine went out of date on 25th, and I flattened it out, cut in half (as it will do 2) and froze it yesterday. Fully intend to use it.

DancesWithDaffodils · 31/03/2021 18:35

It will have black flecks in it if it's gone off. btdt!

I use out of date stuff all the time, hate waste. I’ve never poisoned us yet.
