Got basement level garden and back door, husband noticed something moving near door mat and found a small creature. What it is and why is my house suddenly Chester fucking Zoo?

Jesus Christ, he didn't kill the poor sod! I just meant he exited the same door he (presumably) came in. I'm not keen on creepy crawlies but I wouldn't order its execution! I've been reading up on how we could make our garden a bit friendlier towards any guests actually!
