Do you just need to upgrade your telly every few years?

Got first smart TV in 2014. Bloody thing just keeps freezing when we watch anything not live, ie on demand, or YouTube. Do older TVs just not have the software to cope with modern streaming? And you have to get a new one every few years? It’s a Samsung, so a proper brand, although it was probably one of the cheaper models when we got it.

AIBU to expect a TV to last more than 7 years?!

Thank you for all the advice. We regularly do the software update thingie but it doesn’t seem to make any difference; have also done a complete reset of the channels in the past (although that probably doesn’t affect streaming I guess).

Think it’s possibly the WiFi, but streaming on an iPad/laptop works fine, so I’ve just bought a Fire Stick to see if that does the job. Much cheaper than a new telly!

Fingers crossed and thanks again for all the comments, all really helpful.
