How to I make Legoland trip the BEST thing ever?

We won't manage a holiday this year even in the UK for a few reasons but we do have quite a good holiday budget....we've decided to take the children to legoland Smile

The children probably can't remember what exciting days out are like as I was shielding for most if last year so I want to make it a really memorable trip!

The are two hotels on site but I can't see much difference - how do I decide? We'll have FOMO whatever we do Grin

Any tips to make a great trip so good it will be remembered for years to come? Thanks!

DH and I discussed staying in cheaper hotels when going to places like Legoland or Disney. Staying in the themed rooms makes the whole experience even better to us and, whilst it’s obviously insanely expensive, we want the whole experience.

Legoland is close enough to us that we could do it as a day trip easily but we’re going this year because we’ve had a crap year and two holidays cancelled so we want to spoil our DDs.

Just to add that it's worth finding the time (perhaps when the queues are at their longest) to have a proper look at the Lego cities. They're fantastic, particularly for younger children, and often left to the end of the day when they're too tired to appreciate them.

Another vote for being careful about the two dragon rides, one of which is a fairly tame rollercoaster and the other more exciting (though we're not talking Nemesis here). I'm embarrassed to say I was a parent helper for a year 2 school trip to Legoland with my son. After one ride on the big dragon, the teacher very kindly offered to take my turn to ride again with the next group of kids as I wasn't a big fan. The kids had no problem... On the same note, I felt sick for several hours after the spinning spider ride once, don't know why.

I've probably been to Legoland ten times and never had the q bots (though the last few were corporate days where we had front of line passes so don't really count). I took my sons quite a few times when they were under 5 and didn't find the queues lengthy if I chose the day carefully (term time and not inset days). The only flip side is if you manage to overlap with lots of school trips (pre COVID), although they tend to go home early afternoon. I'd probably go for early September when the weather is still nice and schools are back.

Based on the OP’s children’s ages, she can’t avoid the holidays.

In my experience with a few trips to legoland, the only way to make the best of it all is to throw money at it. Get the full QBots to book all the rides you want to go on.
In normal times they let far too many people in to the park to allow you to get on about more than 3 or 4 rides otherwise when you take into consideration everything else they may want to see and do.
The queues are horrendous.
I have to say though I work term time so can only ever go at weekends or during school holidays, if you can get there at other times it’s possibly not as bad.

Ah. Ignore that advice in that case! I did reread all the original posts but missed that, apologies.

@dcb2

It’s a shame! I’m doubly in the camp of no term times as I’m a teacher. I was hoping to be a bit naughty and book a term time holiday and pull DD1 out for a few days as I’m on maternity leave but covid ruined those plans. Angry
