5mo was neutered today. He is home and seems a bit dopey but otherwise alright.

Just reading through the leaflet and it says "RESTRICT YOUR PETS EXERCISE for the next 10 days your cat will not be allowed to jump on and off chairs or beds. They must not climb flights of stairs"

So looks like I'll be removing all my furniture and locking kitten in a room then Grin

I also cannot get his bloody collar on.

In all seriousness, how best to help him recuperate?

Nutsung = nursing, though he was indeed nuts.

You don't need to do anything special and you certainly don't need to restrict exercise - that is bonkers. The only danger with males is that the wound can become infected, so they shouldn't go outside for five days to a week to avoid contact with soil. Other than that it should be business as usual. (I'm with a specialist neuter clinic that neuters literally thousands of cats every year).

Didn't see the update. Hope he gets better soon. Also none of our neuters are ever sent home with collars.

My kitten was neutered about 3 months ago but he had a retained testicle so it was a more complicated procedure.

Our kitten had a cone, but removed it as soon as he got home. We took him back to the vets the next day to refit it and again, it was back off within 5 minutes of being home, so we just gave up.

We were told to keep him indoors for 10 days, avoid letting the children pick him up and to stop him licking his wound.

Our kitten was fine.
