Would you contact the seller about this?

I ordered a tub of pick and mix for my children over Easter and received it today.

The plastic tub that they were sitting in had a large crack with plastic shards protruding out of the side and there was also a large crack that ran all the way down the middle of the tub at the bottom.

The sweets look fine, I've transferred them into another container.

Would you contact the seller about this? I hate to make a fuss but I'm also wondering whether I should let them know.

Was it posted out? If so it's more likely a transit issue, but you might give them a heads up about better packaging.

WonkyCactus · 26/03/2021 10:25

I would contact them to let them know that they might want to look into better packaging options, especially if they are posting the sweets.

Comefromaway · 26/03/2021 10:26

Yes, I would. It could have been a gifts. They need to package their products better.

BarbaraofSeville · 26/03/2021 10:32

Definitely tell them. Unless they're a complete fool, they'd prefer to be sent a message along the lines of 'thanks for the sweets, they look great, but I thought I should let you know that the tub was broken in transit, maybe consider putting it in a box' or similar.

Because the alternative is probably a load of negative reviews and demands for refunds from people who haven't let them know there was a problem.

They might just think the tub is sturdy enough by itself, but not thought about the reality of how the likes of Yodel treat the packages in their system. I buy a lot of catfood from Zooplus and have had cans burst open and nearly flattened before.

GreenWheat · 26/03/2021 10:36

I wouldn't bother. You have your sweets, and are not personally affected by the broken tub. Leave that issue to someone who actually has one.

Thanks for your replies, I appreciate it.

Were they well wrapped? If I didn't think they were exposed to anything I'd just let them know, do they can improve their packaging. Any chance of them having been exposed to anything I'd want them replaced.

thriftyhen · 26/03/2021 10:56

Yes, of course let the seller know. I run an on-line business and I am really careful about packaging things well, but would certainly want to know if something arrived broken. If items arrive damaged, customers are unlikely to return. Just send them a friendly message and you might get a small refund or be sent something as a gesture of goodwill!
