What is this terrible "I will protect you daily" ad?!

How, just how, did this ad get past whoever it is ads have to get past! It makes my toes curl, and I'm sure CW will look back and cringe one day in the not too distant future!

Surely no one thinks it's a good ad? There's a whole slew of terrible ones at the moment.

One word...ASDA

Truly fucking appalling adverts

GillBungalow · 25/03/2021 22:19

Daisydaisydaisydaisy

Singlenotsingle · 25/03/2021 22:20

What about the many gambling ads? Paddypower and all those? Usually on RedQuest, Pick, and all those? Infuriating! They shouldn't be allowed, especially during the daytime!

Drawsapic · 25/03/2021 22:20

What happened to good ads that set out to attract you by entertaining? Not this dull rubbish.Anyone remember the hamlet ads, or the smash space monsters? Even the ad for shake and vac where she sings?

Tinkerbellflowers · 25/03/2021 22:24

I can't stand that other shampoo advert where the woman whispers about being over 40. Because of course, being over 40 is so embarrassing 🙄

Debbit · 25/03/2021 22:31

@Birnamwood yes! Totally with you on that one!

@Drawsapic, I remember those. And the Leonard Rossiter ads.

I've just seen an ad for Zoflora and the music was (I think) Rien de rien - seemed like a real mismatch of product to music somehow!

@RuddyHellItsSoftCell

‘Get ‘em up there girls!’ Even my 8 yr old dd cringed at that one.
I was just about to say that. Horrid.
Birnamwood · 25/03/2021 22:35

What's the canesten one, something about ask your mum or your bestie [sic]. Really boils my piss for some reason (and not because I've got thrush Grin)

LagneyandCasey · 25/03/2021 22:39

The Claudia Winkleman ads must be working because they keep bloody making them Angry

Sunlife over 50s can fuck off. They've even got 'I did every advert in the 00's' Vorderman doing them now.

I like the AA one with the dog and the fan. That's about it.

Drawsapic · 25/03/2021 22:49

Debit! Oh the ones with him and joan Collins? Genius! People actually looked forward to the ad breaks. And Claudia w is awful. Her parents are somebody or other in tv land so she hasn’t exactly had to work too hard.

Crinkle77 · 25/03/2021 22:56

I love Claudia so will forgive her for these terrible ads. Her mum is Eve Pollard.

RuddyHellItsSoftCell · 26/03/2021 12:40

@WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants ‘get ‘em up there girls’ is a slogan from an ad for tampax Envy (not envy)

JaneJeffer · 26/03/2021 13:09

What about the cat food one with the creepy singing - oh baby baby feed me or something. Awful.

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 26/03/2021 15:20

Oh delightful 🤢

Thanks for your reply!

The ad that I find really moving is for Portal (?) where the Mum is trying to advise her daughter on breastfeeding (have you tried the rugby hold?)

It's so REAL as the new mum looks knackered, fed up and struggling. In pjs too I think.

It's not a glossy mothercare catalogue glossing over how shit being a new parent is - especially in Lockdown.

PolarnOPirate · 26/03/2021 18:24

Asda guy - I just don't understand what he's saying or why it would be funny/relatable - I am clearly not the target audience.

Smug shit Nationwide poems have made me vow never to bank with them, so not the desired effect.

Argh! I'm mad just thinking about them Grin

Oh God I thought that one was mega cringe and smug too!
Debbit · 26/03/2021 18:46

Yes I don't like the mum advising on breastfeeding ad either!
