Any tips on dealing with antisocial kids?

Yes, I've rung 101 Grin just wondering if anyone has any bright ideas. It's pretty much daily, and around 3 times a day
I'm being tormented by the little brats to the point I can't open my blinds so I am a little.. riled tonight
They're opening the gate, coming in the garden and banging on the windows or throwing mud/sticks/stones at the window. Because of the layout I can't chain the gate (elderly neighbours can't cope with a padlock and need access)
Can't afford CCTV
If I open the blinds it makes it worse, and haven't been able to get a pic again due to the layout as they run off around a corner. Have a vague description
So far it's been months and they're still going Sad and I'm WFH. When you're washing up in front of a window with the blinds shut and then get someone pounding on the window it's a little frightening at 9pm!
So far I've ignored but tonight I've screamed after them some choice words

I am ready Grin
Camera installed inside so it can't be nicked and covers the gate, footpath and some of the fence and I can screenshot on my phone

Yes Op! Get the little shits on film and report.

QueenPaw · 24/03/2021 20:30

It's a really clear view even at night and motion sensor. So hopefully during the day it should be great and I can download the video to my phone and email to police
I'm ready for tomorrow now Wink

Well done with the camera. Keep making those calls- I know they feel a pain now but they are painting a picture. Are other neighbours affected by this? Have you looked into a community trigger?
Cameras helped up with the off road lot, few were ID'd and couple of bikes crushed. Not saying it stopped them -doubt it. but it moved them away from my immediate area. Are you private/owned or with a LA/ HA?

I can only empathise, having dealt with it myself for many years both personally and at work I know the impact it can have on your quality of life.look after yourself

QueenPaw · 24/03/2021 20:47

No other neighbours really, mostly local shops. The bikes affect a massive area but there's a huge police operation for that, they're asking for pics and videos so I might be able to help with that now too
Private owned

Well done for getting organised. Hope the police can do something with your footage. It’s awful to think of someone being targeted like this endlessly in their own home.

QueenPaw · 25/03/2021 11:18

I'm sat working like "hurry up after school so I can get you on video" Grin
Be interesting to see if it puts them off, it picked up someone at midnight walking past, seeing the light and stopping then walking off

Sorry OP, I haven't read the whole thread but you say the Police haven't done anything? Most Forces nowdays have a community policing team and this sort of thing would fall into their remit. Can you ask to speak to someone in community policing? (sorry if you have already done that).

Short answer is that yes the Police should be doing something about this behaviour, don't let them fob you off.

IstandwithJackieWeaver · 25/03/2021 13:29

I hope you catch the little shits - they are guilty of assault amongst other things. Coming into your garden isn't a crime in itself as trespass is a civil offence. You could sue them for it, though that's not very practical.

QueenPaw · 25/03/2021 13:29

@Dramallamabanana they've been out (community police) but there's not much they can do until I get pics/video/or a decent description
It's hard as they all wear black puffa jackets with the hood up, black joggers and trainers

I forgot - pyracantha makes an attractive and deterrent hedge. It has huge evil spikes.

Stoppissingonmyheather · 26/03/2021 00:56

Good luck I would also send the pics and info to all the local schools around you they will be able to name n shame and help a bit hopefully and yes Facebook groups community groups local papers mp everyone needs to know

jessstan2 · 26/03/2021 01:35

I've known people who have something which sounds like a dog barking when somebody comes on their property. It's very realistic and might frighten the little brats away.

I am so sorry you're having these problems, I would hate that so much. They are little bullies. If you could get pictures of them you might be able to do something; naming and shaming is a good idea. I wonder if their parents know what they are like.

Sorry I am not much help but I had to respond to your post because I feel so much for you in this situation.

Excellent.
Okbutnotgreat · 26/03/2021 06:48

I recommend planting a row of something like Pyrocantha along that fence. It’s really thorny, my neighbours have it and you’d be an idiot to try and climb through it.

WheeshtTheNoo · 26/03/2021 15:40

How is it going? Hoping the camera has helped!

QueenPaw · 26/03/2021 16:06

Nothing Confused
Literally they haven't even been along the road

QueenPaw · 26/03/2021 16:17

Ooh 3 police vans have just flown past towards the shops nosy so maybe they've been pestering the staff up there or on the roof again

justiceleague · 09/04/2021 14:12

@QueenPaw Did you have any more trouble with them OP? Am interested to see if the camera worked as I'd like to get an indoor one like that too

QueenPaw · 09/04/2021 14:16

@justiceleague absolute blissful silence Grin
It's meant to be an outdoor camera but I installed it basically on the windowsill inside and it's been brilliant

MaybeHeIsMyCat · 08/01/2022 15:33

I have NC since but back with an update

The camera has made no difference Sad they just stick fingers up at it
Police have been out again today and said report again every single time so they can build a pattern. I've sent CCTV to the police
The other night they came in my garden and banged on the patio doors so hard that they shook, and the blind fittings came down

Awaiting a quote for a hedge. A very prickly one
