Potty training

Any tips on getting a 2.8yr old to sit on the potty at home?
Happily sits on at nursery and even tells them if she needs a wee. She has done a few wees on the potty at home in the past but not for a while now and she did a poo on it once for which she got lots of praise but still is very 'scared to poo on it again.
Nursery say she's ready for pants but I can't see how it'll work at home with the way she is able she even tells me she doesn't want to wear big girl pants lol
I've tried sticker charts, potty, toilet seat/steps for the big toilet but nothing seems to work 🤔
Any advice is welcome 😊 thanks xx

I wouldn’t bother yet as she doesn’t seem ready despite what nursery say. If you have a garden wait until better weather and potty train outside. Easier to clean up mishaps.

^^what she said.

Far less stressful to wait until they’re actually ready and don’t need much assistance than to try and force it. Once they get it, they get it and will be dry almost immediately with no accidents.

I agree that she can't be ready if she's telling me she doesn't want pants on and won't even sit on it at home at the moment but I'm feeling the pressure from nursery cuz they're saying if we don't do it now she could lose all interest and it will make things harder in the future 🤔
Any thoughts on that one? Lol

What a load of rubbish.

All kids - bar those with very specific needs - potty train. It’s impossible to ‘lose interest’ in a daily bodily function.

I tried all three of mine at various points before age three. They were enthusiastic, but then would wee themselves (or poo) equally as enthusiastically. All three of them at around three when we tried again, just...did it. I mean, I reminded them to go every so often, but once they were ready they just got it. Honestly a couple of accidents in the first week and then nothing. It did take longer to train overnight but then again you can’t really train that!

I followe the oh crap method, where you go bare bottom to start with so no panta no nappies. They are so used to wearing nappies you have to remove that comfort blanket in a sense. My dd was nearly 3 when we did it and took a week

Hahaha you've made me feel much better. I think I'll stick to my guns and hold off a while.

I've read about that method but she won't let me leave her without her nappy on at the moment so I don't think I'd get away with it yet lol
