Anyone had Mirena for endometriosis and possible adenomyosis?

Mh periods were heavy.

Tried mini pull but they just got heavier linger and then continuous. Hmm

On my second mirena as first came out. I bled heavily - think jelly pot sizes clots continuously for 4 hours.

Had northisterone for 3 months and second mirena fitted 2.5 months ago.

Had random spotting and light period and now have another heavy period.

They've been following an odd pattern for a year. Light bleed. Stops for 12-16 hours and then heavy bleed. Stops for another 12-16 hours and heavy again. Then may have light bleeding for another 10 days.

The pain is usually day 2 before second heavy bleed. This month it was so bad mefanamic acid, panadol and wheat bag on tummy and back didn't make pain subside enough I could sleep.

I know I have to give it 3-6 months to settle and up to a year.

But has anyone had experience of it not working at all?

Cannot face another summer of going out in heat for 2-3 weeks a month in constant pads or even tampon, pad and period pants.

Me!! Mirena didn't help my endo and it sent me doolally. I bled daily for 7 months. Went to appointment and Doc says it takes time to settle. Said I wasn't prepared to wait for it to settle any longer and if they didn't take it out, then I would.

I had a Mirena fitted after my 7th surgery for endo (over 20 years). I still had fairly light monthly bleeds but it was an absolute game changer for me. I had two Mirenas for 7 years each which took me to the menopause.

Are you done having children? I had an ablation for horrific periods and it was marvellous. I still have periods but nowhere near the same.

Had mirena fitted. Was super dubious. Was like temperature gauge turned down from day one. I now forget to list endo on my medical history and I'm on my third mirena. It's worth a try.

Yeah I won't be having more children.

I think if after my next scan in October I still have thickened lining ablation is what I will ask for.

Did any of you take a few months to settle and then it did work?

Mirena was a game changer for me too. Still have some breakthrough pain and PMS, although my ovulation pain mid cycle has always been and still is horrendous as it's completely fused to the pelvic wall and was unable to be freed up and treated during my last surgery.

I was due to get this one out after the 5 years just as covid pandemic and first lock down started, then no access to treatment initially. I still avoided going to Dr's for help all last year as too scared to leave my home, as I'm extremely high risk. I hope to go soon after I get a second vaccine jab, and get a replacement as my pain and bleeding has come back, and all my endometriosis symptoms have all definitely worsened again.

I hope everything settles down for you, & you find some relief. Best of luck. I really feel for you. Flowers

How long did it take for those who saw improvement to get improvement?

I'm hoping that if I carry in they'll get lighter and less painful?

So after stop start bleeding I've again been flooding today. Flooding through super tampon and pad every 10 minutes for over an hour.

Had anyone had this and then found they've still settled down eventually?
