Can anyone recommend anything? I’d like to learn written and spoken, to a conversational level rather than just holiday phrases. I learnt French (and German but less fluently as it didn’t come naturally!) at school and traditional learning methods suited me then, though I’d be open to anything. Ideally I’d like something I can do in 10 minute bursts or hour sessions as life allows.

I use Duolingo - concept seems odd, but is sound but I use Babbel, too, because it is more traditionally 'lanugage course-y', then there is
Memrise and Utalk.
FutureLearn, Coursera and edX have langauge courses as well.

Duolingo is good. What language are you wanting to learn? There is some apps that are only for certain languages or better at some languages then others.

I want to learn Spanish and Italian (not at the same time though!) Ive fallen into a pattern of going to France on holiday as I speak the language enough to get by. I figured if it’s 18month until we can go abroad I’ve got time to learn another and broaden my horizons!

Duolingo is great to get you started.

Duolingo is good (you can also access it online so not just app based, which is good) but I'd advise checking the language first. I'm 300 days into Japanese, but as it doesn't have a "speak recognition" functionality (where you speak into the app and it recognises what I am saying) for Japanese (it does for most other languages) I have become very good at understanding written and spoken, but can hardly speak a word Hmm

@boopear
DD revises her Russian and learns Korean with Duolingo and in both cases there is speech recognition.
I switched it off for my languages because I find the speech recognition with Babbel works better for me.

Spanish with Paul is good and I enjoy his teaching style, there are example lessons on YouTube. For daily practise apps I like Duolingo and Busuu
