Daftest thing you've missed in lockdown?

I was reading DD2 a bedtime story last night when out of nowhere I had this Proustian moment of absolute longing for a baked potato out of the food hall in the St Enoch's shopping centre in Glasgow. I don't even know if you can get a baked potato in the St Enoch's centre these days, as it's about 25 years since I last had my dinner there. It's never been high up my priority list when I go back to visit. But suddenly all my feelings of homesickness and utter scunneredness with lockdown just boiled down to this baked tattie. Anyone else craving stuff they didn't even know they missed?

The car wash being open. I never thought my biggest problem this time would be getting the car washed.

I can’t wait to go for a long walk in the hills knowing I can sit in a pub with a pint and some stodge by the fire afterwards. We didn’t even do it that often but god the nostalgia. I’m misty eyed at the thought.

The people I smiled at on my bus to work! Same route and time for a while before lockdown. We don't know each others names or where we live, we'd just all have a little nod a smile in the morning at the bus stop. I miss that.

Londoners have a rep for being cold on public transport, but I've found bus riders to be more friendly!

Softplay. I'm a childminder and go to softplay a lot. Never thought I would long to go back to softplay.

All the car washes here are open (Scotland. well in my area of Scotland) I just had a valet done on mine.

@EssentialHummus

Being able to use Apple Pay with face ID.
I was so excited to get a phone with face id. A week or two later they made masks mandatory.

I miss running with a group of friends and all the chit chat.

Getting my nails done on my day off.

The nail people never talk and all you can hear and feel is the vibration from the nail file drill.

Kids birthday parties, I used to complain about the number of them and that they used to take up all the weekend. First one we get to go to I’m going to be on that dance floor raving my arse off to baby shark

I miss waking up on a Saturday morning and deciding what to do. Most of the time I would be doing what I do now- housework, gardening, baking and going for a walk. But I want the option to do what I want if that makes sense.

I miss the cinema. The one near me has such comfortable chairs that recline with tables between the seats. Just to sit and watch a film with no demands on you for a couple of hours escapism sounds bliss right now.

Browsing for make-up. I love playing with all the testers.

Getting the tube!

I miss my mil. She passed away 3 years ago but somehow lockdown seems to have made me miss her more.

I miss the planes flying over my house. We are nowhere near an airport so they were never a nuisance, I just used to love looking them up on FlightRadar and thinking about the people going on holiday. Also miss getting a pastry from Pret on my way in to work.

Travel for work. I only went to a European city once a month, but I loved the drive to the airport alone, getting through security and browsing duty free in peace with no one to worry about, same on an off the plane- no bags to lug, kids to herd -just me to worry about . And then a couple of nights in a nice hotel ALONE!
