When mansplaining is justified...

I have been telling DH that our toilet paper is crazy because if you go for a wee in the night and grab a handful of toilet paper, it sparks with lights, like static. I was excited by this and couldn't wait for him to experience it himself. I even wondered if it might catch fire if you rubbed it together long enough! I have been curious to know what it contained to cause this. You wouldn't expect such a thing from recycled paper.

DH pointed out this morning that what I'm observing is flashes from the sensor light on my wristwatch (HR monitor) 😌

That's not mansplaining though, as it was knowledge you needed but didn't have.

AmaryllisNightAndDay · 19/03/2021 09:52

That's not mansplaining, he just knew something you didn't. Mansplaining is when you know more about it than he does but A Man explains it to you anyway.

DavidsSchitt · 19/03/2021 09:53

That isn't mansplaining though.

PurpleDaisies · 19/03/2021 09:53

You really ought to look at what mansplaining actually means.

GretaGip · 19/03/2021 09:55

Well actually I think we need to wait for a man to mosey on along to help you out with an actual definition.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 19/03/2021 09:56

I think people have obviously taken your title literally.
It made me laugh though Grin

Your post has made me laugh!

It sounds like something I would get excited about and dh would roll his eyes at!😂

I got accused of mansplaining yesterday on a thread. Even though I'm a 56 year old married mother!😂

@Ihopeyourcakeisshit Grin

I must admit I have perhaps overstretched the definition somewhat, to include explaining something that I really should have already known if I'd thought about it for more than 5 seconds Hmm

That's not mainsplaining, but explaining

LudoBear · 19/03/2021 10:09

What is mansplaining? Never heard of it.

BadLad · 19/03/2021 10:11

@GretaGip

Well actually I think we need to wait for a man to mosey on along to help you out with an actual definition.
You hailed.

I've always gone by the definition of a man assuming the listener didn't know something just because she was a woman, and therefore explaining it to her.
