I’ve recently started doing an hour long walk every day and after struggling to find a podcast I enjoyed, I decided to try Audible which I absolutely love.

I’ve got the trial at the moment where you get two books for free but I’m struggling to work out how it works after that. I thought it was a subscription but then the books I’ve looked at have prices next to them and some are very expensive! How does it work after the trial ends?

It is a subscription, you get credits which you use to buy books although depending on the book, it can be cheaper to buy without using a credit.

Forgot to add that there’s often a 2for1 sales on certain titles too.

I can see Yorkie has explained about credits but are you a member of your local library? Lots of libraries seem to be signed up to something called Borrow Box which is completely free if you're a library member and there are loads of audiobooks (and ebooks) on there that you can borrow 😊 Thought I would mention in case you haven't heard of it!

If you are looking at Audible check out the annual subscriptions.

12 Books for £69.99 or 24 books for £109.99.

That works out cheaper than the monthly subscription and you get all the credits up front.

If your library doesn’t have borrowbox they may have the Libby app (or maybe both) which also lets you borrow ebooks and audiobooks. I use a mixture of Audible and Libby for my audiobooks.

The price you see on audible will be £xx or 1 credit, when you check out you can choose to pay or use a credit so check which is cheaper each time. If you already have a book on Kindle you can often get the audiobook for £2.99 (I like to listen to old favourites when I can’t sleep).

Gosh I’m ashamed to say I didn’t even know we had a local library Blush I’ve just checked and they use the Libby app and there’s some really brilliant audiobooks on there!

Thank you everyone. I think I’ll exhaust that before considering paying for Audible
