Would you shave your legs to get a pedicure?

If you were getting a pedicure, would you shave /wax your legs beforehand?

Currently getting a pedicure, I haven't shaved since October and look like a monkey. Bit embarrassed really

Yes as old fashioned as this sounds won’t your pedicurist at be more offended by you being on your phone ??? 😆

^

Really?? Not being facetious, but do they expect me to not use my cell? No magazines are available

If you're remotely bothered or self conscious about it then just whap razor over them. Takes literally a minute; it's not a major undertaking!

CornishTiger · 18/03/2021 18:00

Im confused as to how you are getting a pedicure in lockdown? I’d love one!

Yes I’d remove hair if I normally would.

I have almost no hair on my legs so haven't needed to shave for about 15 years. It's bliss.

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 18/03/2021 18:24

I had this conversation with myself while showering this morning. I want to get a pedicure but I couldn't be arsed to shave my legs.

Going to just get the pedicure with hairy legs anyway.

Lots of people on MN are from countries that aren't in lockdown. We've been able to get pedicures here since last June.
Shehasadiamondinthesky · 18/03/2021 18:26

I'd probably just shave them to half way up the calf.

Iliketeaagain · 18/03/2021 18:29

The trick is to find someone that does waxes too. I get a pedicure when I get my legs waxed, wax first then pedicure - much less thought required.

And do you not chat? I've never had a magazine when I get a pedicure, I chat to whoever is doing said pedicure, I would only get my phone out if I was left with my feet soaking for an extended period of time.

No, they would not be offended by this.
ZZTopGuitarSolo · 18/03/2021 18:32

The place I get pedicures, most of the staff don't speak English. The owner is a friend and she'll occasionally chat, but the staff mostly chat to each other.

HeronLanyon · 18/03/2021 18:39

lacey I know. I’ve never had a pedicure but when I see through a window my heart drops a little when I see customers on phones and (here in London anyway) very young Vietnamese women working away.
Have had the equiv with a chiropodist. She would be astonished if I brought out my phone.
Old style I know.

LynetteScavo · 18/03/2021 19:09

Yes because I once didn't and had stinky ankles. I'm still cringing nearly 20 years later!

Miljea · 18/03/2021 20:37

Absolutely!

I have an Epilady- I would always epilate before any procedure that might involve hair!

I think it's respectful to do so, but probably more importantly, sends the message 'I care about my grooming'!

My DH (60) is generally a clean bloke, but with eczema and a bit of scalp psoriasis- but he allows his glasses to get cruddy. Where (tmi) the insides of nose pads are totally crudded up. As does his comb.

I have told him that He Will Be Judged in social and medical settings.

😂

Shaving your legs hardly takes any time at all. If you shaved before lockdown why wouldn't you do it now?

PerveenMistry · 19/03/2021 03:36

I shave my legs every day in the shower.

Personally I wouldn't get a pedicure with unshaven legs but no doubt the practitioners have seen it all. Do as you please.

23PissOffAvenueWF · 19/03/2021 03:45

Yes, I would, because I’ve been caught out before. DH has booked me in for a massage, and I hadn’t shaved for a couple of days. It didn’t occur to me that the massage was going to extend to my legs. They weren’t hairy, just prickly, but I was mortified. Damn the pressure on women to remove body hair. Angry

It shouldn’t matter.

P.S. I am guessing the OP is somewhere like me - no lockdown, pedicures a go go.

cerseii · 19/03/2021 03:49

I mean, I keep my legs hair free so I would remove the hair regardless be of the appointment

However you’re clearly comfortable being hairy (October feels like a year ago!) so do whatever you feel comfortable with. The pedicurist won’t bat an eyelid if you have hairy legs, they’ve definitely seen it before. If you’re self conscious just wear trousers/leggings that reach your ankles surely

cerseii · 19/03/2021 03:51

Using your phone during a pedicure appointment is completely normal, expected even

Neonlightning · 19/03/2021 03:56

I'm too lazy to shave every few days. Laser - game changer! Took 6 sessions to pretty much kill off all my hair follicles, now 1 or 2 maintenance sessions a year. Never have to worry.

But that's personal choice; who cares if you have hairy legs. Pre laser, I used to apologise when having a massage if my legs were hairy, my masseuse doesn't care either way!

en0la · 19/03/2021 04:11

@LubaLuca

They won't care either way, but if you'd prefer them not to see your leg hair then you should remove it.
No but why would anybody have a problem with somebody seeing their leg hair? Confused
Parkerwhereareyou · 19/03/2021 04:13

Yes I would and ...... where are you getting a pedicure?!! Lucky you!!

starrynight21 · 19/03/2021 04:50

I shave in the shower every week, have done all my adult life. Such a quick and easy job, takes about one minute. I don't get why you'd leave it for months. I do my own pedicure every week too - and I'm 63 by the way .

23PissOffAvenueWF · 19/03/2021 06:34

Every week?? Why don’t you do it every day?

Wink
EssexLioness · 19/03/2021 06:56

Yes, it really doesn’t take long at all and the fact that you posted here implies you feel uncomfortable with other people seeing/ the woman’s response. If you didn’t care what people thought then fine but you could have avoided feeling awkward for the sake of an extra minute or two

StarlightLady · 19/03/2021 08:35

I would shave mine, but there again, l shave regularly anyway, so it would be as per the usual.
