If you could live anywhere in the UK, would you stay where you are?

Essentially just that. But if you are interested, some background below:

My husband has a new job which is wfh (not just covid) with odd travel into the office. ‘The office’ can be any of the company offices in the country though, as in, he can pick, not that they could call him into Newcastle if we lived in Brighton. There are offices relatively all over the UK. I’m currently a SAHM with no career ties to our current area.
We met at uni, got married and settled in an area that was relatively close to both of our parents. Well, they’ve all fucked off in different directions with retirement.
We think we are happy where we are and don’t have a massive budget as we’d be borrowing on one salary, so maybe £300k?
We could get a nice semi or a bit of a shit detached where we are now.

I love where I live. Great small city, cultural things aplenty, good transport links, countryside on the doorstep, beach nearby, lots of friends here, the only downsides are the house prices and family being 200 miles away (although that doesn't normally bother me as much as it has in the last year).
I love rural for holidays and days out but I couldn't live there.

Here's a thread for you although it was focused on rural areas.

Moving is so expensive. It sounds like you are happy where you are. Nowhere is perfect. Why don't you stay put. You can always move at some point in the future if you find somewhere that really draws you. Maybe plan a few UK breaks to have a look at different regions.

I'd stay exactly where I am! I'm never moving. I love Morecambe and live in the house I'd always known I would!

Scuse the grey day today but this is my view. I paid less than your budget for my house OP and there are big things on the horizon for the town Grin

@happymummy12345 your post made me cry! We are making a huge move. I’ve felt like a nomad for so long. Living where we just ended up. Staying here so my family aren’t upset. My home town is full of awful awful memories and my abuser from my childhood still lives there. Our move is to find home. So I am hugely emotive about the subject. Your post really spoke to me. I am so glad you moved to where you feel at home. I hope we can find our home too.
