Induction at 37 weeks

Whats everyone's experience with induction? Especially early? I was induced in my last pregnancy but I was full term and took 33.5 hours but hoping this time will be quicker.

I'm 37+2 and induced due to reduced movement and heart rate dipping. Midwife examined me before putting the pessary in and said I'm 1cm, cervix is soft but quite high something about the number 3? And baby is back to back. I had a show as soon as she examined me.

Here on my own due to covid so hoping to read some labour/induction stories, thanks!

Sounds like me. I was induced at 37+2 and it took another 2 days for baby to appear as the gels didn't work for me. I was really upset at the time because I had wanted a waterbirth with minimal intervention but with the reduced movement and the gels not getting things going that wasn't really a possibility. But in the end I got DS and he's now a happy, healthy toddler.

I was induced at 37.4 due to a potentially large baby, was given an option for a c-section but opted for induction. Essentially the induction failed as I did not dilate beyond 2cm, they managed to break my waters though, but progressed no further and had to have the c-section in any event.
Me aside, I've heard of many successful induction stories. I wish you lots of luck, baby will soon be here!Smile.

Not induced at 37 weeks however had two inductions. First for dc3 was 5 days of pessary and nothing, waters broken, drip and baby arrived all within 20 minutes. ( induced due to failing placenta, small baby). Dc4 was 24 hours pessary and again nothing but got me to 6cm dilated with no contractions. Given a sweep and contractions started immediately, baby arrived 2hours later. (induction for tailing growth and previous tiny babies). Wishing you lots of luck and hope baby arrives very soon.

I was induced at 37 weeks and the pessary alone kickstarted my labour. Within about 8 hours of the pessary going in I was a mum!

I hope it works out for you. I'd never have an induction again, my waters broke at 1cm about 12 hours after I had the pessary in, I was then fully contracting and I didn't progress for a further 12 hours and I still only ended up at 2cm. Ended up with emergency section due to my high blood pressure and exhaustion. Next time id ask for vbac or straight to another section.

It's nice to read some positive stories though.

3 = -3 to the ischial spines, essentially babes head is quite high at the moment. Ask for a birthing ball if you haven’t got one and spend an hour bouncing on that. Don’t sit slumped in bed, babe won’t move that way, but make sure you get some kip if you can otherwise you’ll be knackered (not been induced but have induced many!) Good Luck 🤞

Induced 3 times -first at 41+5 weeks, second at 37.2 weeks and third at 40+2 weeks so have never known a spontaneous labour. Each labour was quicker the one before, and the 37 week one was about 5-6 hours from start to finish. No epidural just gas and air (no time for anything else!) Best of luck, you’ll be fine x

Tillie Hope was born this morning at 4.36am. Pessary had to be removed at 3.30 as contractions came on hard and fast so had to slow labour down and after the 24 hours they had no beds to break my waters although contractions continued. I got to 3cm and 1cm effaced but once the midwife broke my waters she was here in 3 hours with just gas and air as anesthesiologist was busy. But she's safe at 5lbs 11oz with a healthy cry.

Congratulations! That is a lovely name. Glad she is safe and well. My 37 weekend was only around 6lb. My advice is to get some Tiny Baby or Early Baby sized clothes, and size 0 nappies!

Congratulations OP! Welcome to the world Tillie Hope.
