No energy, always tired, any tips?

As the title says, I have very little energy. I am mid 30s, sleep 8 hours a night, but have a lot of work and stresses. Every morning I wake up super tired. I try to exercise as well but that makes me even more tired. I just feel very sluggish, unable to think clearly or do anything, extremely unproductive at work as well.

Any ideas?

Have you had your b12 checked?

LadyEv · 17/03/2021 09:40

Have you tried iron tablets or B12 supplements?

ThePricklySheep · 17/03/2021 09:41

It’s probably the stress. Is there anything you can do about that?

DipSwimSwoosh · 17/03/2021 09:43

Check iron levels.

Thanks all, don't want to do blood tests yet as scared of going to hospital, but will take supplements.

vitamin d

I've used Thriva blood tests in the past, you do them at home using a finger prick device and they check b12, foliate, iron, thyroid function vit d etc, and then send you a report showing where you are in relation to the optimal ranges and recommend which supplements you should take/whether you see your GP. Seemed quite accurate when compared to some that my GP ran at a later date.

Most likely the stress - stress depletes the body physically and mentally - if exercise makes you tired, try yoga - do a gentle one it really will help physically and also help reduce stress. Maybe 10 minutes meditation - lots of ones on youtube and some breathing exercises - again look up yoga breathing on youtube. Maybe a Berocca too and eat healthily that too makes a big difference.

If you are lacking b12 it could be pernicious anaemia and supplements are unlikely to help. I really would see a doc rather than taking supplements

Weighted blanket was a game changer for me.

Magnesium can really help your thinking skills.

You shouldn't need to go to hospital. You should be able to have blood tests done at your doctors or local health centre.

I had a blood test a few weeks ago (Dr was looking for something else) and it came back that my folates were through the floor. He put me on 5mg folic acid and I can’t believe how much better I feel. I thought it was something only pregnant women had to be concerned about but after just a few days on folic acid I started sleeping more restfully and I don’t feel knackered and sluggish all day.

I had more blood taken this morning so I’m keen to see my levels now.
