Nappy help needed

choosername1234 · 16/03/2021 21:48

My daughter is 4.5 months and exclusively breastfed. She is currently in size 3 nappies. Everytime she does a poo it erupts up her back and needs a full clothes change. We've tried pampers, Sainsbury's and Lidl nappies.
Sainsbury's size 2 nappies were really good as they had a little flap in the back which would stop the poonami but sadly size 3 do t have this. Help...!

Pampers were the only ones that could contain the situation for ds1

choosername1234 · 16/03/2021 22:44

Sadly she can blast out of pampers

See if there is a nappy library near you and you can find a reusable that works. Can't be any more work than the current situation!

Sounds like it could be a possible allergy if her poo is so explosive.

Tickly · 16/03/2021 22:54

It will get better when she is weaned! Have you checked you've got the frills out around the legs? And then the waistband is Hugh enough up?
Beyond that I'd suggest reuseable two part nappies like tots bots with a motherease airflow wrap. They're amazing for containment.

@choosername1234
I found pampers premium the best

Also as a side note I avoided any curry or chilli or anything spicy and that stopped my babies having poo explosions!

It could also be a dairy intolerance - try soy/almond milk products for a week to see if that helps

Hope you find a solution x

Some useful suggestions, thank you.
I have to admit I'm doubtful about allergy / intolerance but I will investigate further

Reusable nappies are much better at containment. Yes you have to wash them but you save on washing clothes!
If you can't bear the thought of them, have a look at just buying the wraps (waterproof outer bits) and use them with disposables. Something like this:

Asda little angejls are by far the best never had a leak - dry all night too - boots own my second choice followed by pampers

TheGracefulwhale · 16/03/2021 23:50

It's not the nappies, it's the vest! Go up a size in vests and it's not all tight meaning the poo has no where to go. Going up a size gives a bit more space

jakeyboy1 · 16/03/2021 23:55

Is she slim? I used to get this with my girls (I mean it happens to everyone!) but found some makes just weren't tight enough eg the waist would fit but the leg would be massive etc.
I found Pampers and Tesco best. I know people rave about Aldi but they were just too big for mine. Also consider the + in between sizes but I can't recall what size that kicks in.

TiggeryBear · 17/03/2021 01:02

Definitely agree with the vests being too tight. That used to be the biggest cause of leaks on both my DC.

Megan2018 · 17/03/2021 01:05

I’d switch to cloth, we never had this in reusables. You can just buy a few and gradually switch over from disposables (or cloth part time).

Where has OP said she even puts her baby in a vest Confused Never, not once, did I put vests on mine.

Another vote for reusables. You don’t get up-the-back explosions, although you have to do them up much more tightly than a disposable or you get leg leaks instead. Issy Bears and Bum Cheeks all-in-ones were my favourites and lasted me two babies. Don’t be tempted by Tots Bots. Very pretty, big name brand but utterly useless.

EnglishRain · 17/03/2021 01:54

Another reusable fan here. Only ever had a poonami in one when DH put one on with gapes at the legs! Disposables on the other hand... Sad

TiggeryBear · 13/04/2021 20:01

@ElphabaTheGreen - I was agreeing with a previous poster, not the OP regarding the vests being too tight.
