Following another child's positive LFT, did your dc actually have Covid?

No. None of the times. Haven't heard of one who was yet anecdotally, would love to know to be able to put some context to the endless isolations.

Blankiefan · 15/03/2021 14:24

Yes. And she gave it to me and DH. She was completely asymptomatic up me and DH weren't so lucky.

TheOneWithTheBigNose · 15/03/2021 14:25

No.

Dd's full class isolated. 7 of the 25 tested positive.

Borntohula · 15/03/2021 14:37

Ugh I hope she doesn't have it. I suppose it's only a matter of time.

No, DD’s best friend who she spent lots of time with had it in November. We were waiting for her to get it during her isolation period but no symptoms whatsoever, and neither of us were ill either

Don’t forget that even in household transmission is only around 50%. I shared a bed with DH and didn’t catch it.
edwinbear · 15/03/2021 14:51

No. DS had three periods of self-isolation after close contact but didn't get it.

Vanillaradio · 15/03/2021 14:59

No. Nobody in the class caught it from the child who tested positive.

MarmaladeToastAndAMarmaladeCat · 15/03/2021 15:07

No. But it the entire preschool class were told to isolate and as they’re all running around together I have no idea how close the contact was.

Borntohula · 15/03/2021 15:10

Apparently in this case, 'close contact' is defined as being within 2 metres of the child in question. DD isn't showing symptoms and nor am I, so far. We're lucky I suppose that this is the first instance of having to self isolate.

Yes. And then gave it to me. DH and dd5 either didn't get it or had no symptoms.

badlydrawnbear · 15/03/2021 16:08

Not LFT, but my DC have both had 2 seperate periods of isolation as close contacts of COVID cases in school. They didn't have COVID (unless it was asymptomatic, but DC1 came down with a cough during her first isolation period so got tested and was negative).

FASDE1517 · 15/03/2021 16:16

Nope. Several times

NeverDropYourMoonCup · 15/03/2021 16:21

I know of one case where the contacts went on to test positive and become unwell.

Their version of social distancing was to carshare every day and spend every evening and all weekend together as well.

scrivette · 15/03/2021 16:25

DD had it (asymptotic) which she caught at nursery (from an adult we think) but no one else our household caught it.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 15/03/2021 16:41

I think there's going to be a difference between the old strain and new Kent strain here. When children were identified as a close contact might be as important as whether they got infected and passed it on.

Tr1skel1on · 15/03/2021 16:52

Kent strain spreads like wildfire through kids at school. Just Google the Isle of Man at the moment. Not even hub schools for critical workers permitted to open.

Icancelledthecheque · 15/03/2021 17:39

Nope, and we’ve had 3 periods of school enforced isolation so far. Currently on the 4th and had a negative LFT this morning.

Bunnybigears · 15/03/2021 17:42

No, I think DS may be immune or have already had it with no symptoms etc as he has been close contact with positive cases both the full test and the lateral flow and never caught it.

Same happened in guernsey. And one of the other differences they noticed from the recent outbreak compared to the one last March was whole households getting it after the first case rather than just 1 or 2 members of the household.
Borntohula · 15/03/2021 19:27

She did a LFT this afternoon which was negative so fingers crossed. Not sure how reliable they are.
