Happy Mothers day! Come and tell me what you hope for from the day

I'm breastfeeding an 8 week old so the chance of time alone or extra rest is slim!
DH lost his lovely nan 2 days ago too so, along with the pandemic and not being able to see our own mums, it's a bit of an odd one here.

So come and tell me what you hope for from today. I'll start:
I'm hoping to get to scroll mn a bit, cuddle toddler ds without him asking for another snack (won't happen but optimistic), cook a roast and maybe catch up on some sleep while ds naps. If dd is awake at that time though I'll hopefully get to watch married at first sight australia while feeding!

Your turn...

Oh, and happy mothers day to all, be it mums, step mums, dad's flying solo, nans, greatnans, and of course thinking of those who are remembering their mums today Flowers

My mum's coming for lunch, then we'll watch a film this afternoon with some sweets. The kids who tower over both of us still like to fuss around, so there'll be endless cups of tea and cuddles.

40metres · 14/03/2021 07:40

I'm just hoping for peace and quiet which is what my mum always said she wanted when we were growing up and I thought was very odd. Now it's my turn and i understand. I won't get peace and quiet obviously.

Chocolateygoodness · 14/03/2021 07:41

DC are at their Dads and he is bringing them back early as they want to make me breakfast. They will have a gift too, ex is great at making an effort for occasions.
I can't wait to see them, the house is far too quiet without them. It'll be a flurry of noise, maybe a bit of squabbling about who makes my coffee and general family life.

I'm still in bed - score!
Just had 3 lovely cards - one hilarious handmade one with a tea bag and penguin stuck inside Grin
Also a gorgeous wild flower bouquet and two Country and Western CDs for my car (bluetooth broken)
DH currentky making pancakes with DDs and I have a lovely bug cup of tea.
Going to have a long leisurely shower but then have to go for my vaccine - I'm dreading it as had covid 3 months ago but can put it off no longer as NHS.
Happy Mothers Day everyone

It’s my first Mother’s Day! As DD was born just a few weeks in to the first lockdown.

So we have already had coffee and milk in bed and DH is organising a lovely lunch. That’s basically all I want but I think he’s got some gifts etc sorted.

Just very grateful to have them both and so happy to spend the day with them

Lola001 · 14/03/2021 07:51

Nobody IRL knows this but were going to sit down and send off our enquiries for adoption today ❤ my wish for next year (or the year after) and every one after is to be woke up by my child.

Myphone · 14/03/2021 07:51

Big long cuddles and chats with my funny boy.
Happy Mothers Day everyone.

Foodielady · 14/03/2021 07:52

I am hoping that one of the children or DH remember and just say Happy Mother’s Day. They are all at work and school today (obviously not in the U.K) so they all forgot this morning.

TopCatLuther · 14/03/2021 07:52

I’ve already had it! 8 hours uninterrupted sleep from my 11 week old - no idea where that came from, but I’ll take it!

Had lovely snuggles with him, sticky kisses and homemade cards from my 2yo and 6yo, plus coffee and pancakes in bed with a little bunch of daffs from DH.

The rest of the day will be the usual circus wrangling I should imagine, so I’m just enjoying the moment of having all my gorgeous kids on my bed around me Grin

Happy Mother’s Day to you all Flowers

Begonias · 14/03/2021 07:53

My teenagers are planning breakfast in bed for me. Was told last night that I was not to get out of bed until they said so, only trouble is one of them sleeps till after 11😂

I do know that they have organised a meal from my favourite restaurant (to be picked up at lunch) and they alongside their dad disappeared for 3 hours yesterday morning. I'm sure they went to pick something up as they were very coy on their return. I'm not a fan of surprises I would rather know what's going on.

Buckingafout · 14/03/2021 07:53

@Lola001 how exciting! Flowers

TopCatLuther · 14/03/2021 07:54

@Lola001 how absolutely thrilling, wishing you the best of luck 🤞🏻

Chocolateygoodness · 14/03/2021 07:58

@Lola001 how lovely. Flowers

Ponyolikesham · 14/03/2021 08:00

It’s a sad one for me. I’m miscarrying our second child who took 11 months to conceive.

So I’m taking it easy...coffee and mumsnet in bed before I join my husband and toddler downstairs. I hope I can get through the day without too much pain/bleeding (I think the worst is still yet to come unfortunately).

Today I’ll be dropping off a gift to my mum, maybe go for a walk in the sun with DH and DD and spend a long time in the bath.

StillGoingToWork · 14/03/2021 08:02

I'm working today so last weekend my daughter made a huge afternoon tea, with sandwiches, cakes and freshly brewed tea. It was lovely. Smile

ContessaDiPulpo · 14/03/2021 08:02

I was hoping for handmade cards with bonkers drawings/messages from my two boys, which I have got so am very happy. As well as reminding them to make cards, DH also coordinated collection of flowers from the garden and brought me a cup of tea. I get to choose dinner as well (which I will choose based on what the DC won't reject) Grin

It's a nice day so far! Wishing you all the same Flowers

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 14/03/2021 08:03

A lie-in.

To shake off my effing hideous PMT headache.

Card

Roast dinner.

Pudding! (Can be shop bought.)

My needs are simple. Grin

@Lola001
Everything crossed here for you

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 14/03/2021 08:05

@Ponyolikesham just seen this. I'm SO sorry. Hand-hold ThanksThanks

cliffdiver · 14/03/2021 08:06

A negative Covid result for DD2, so DH can buy and cook a roast dinner.

Apart from that, I was hoping for new DMs and homemade cards from DDs, which I got.

I would be lovely to see my mum, but that's unlikely.

Lie in ❎
Coffee in bed ❎

Bexily · 14/03/2021 08:20

My lie in was ruined by the neighbours who have a hot tub for the weekend and their 6yo was gleefully playing in it at 7.10 this morning at full volume. I've got a cracking headache too.

Came down to some lovely gifts from DC. DH is taking them to do a present drop off and wave at his Mums then for a walk whilst I have a couple of hours to myself remembering my beautiful DM who we lost last June.

Dogman2020 · 14/03/2021 08:23

I was woken up by DS at 7.30 to come downstairs and watch him play on the iPad whilst ignoring me, so thats fun. Dp is still asleep upstairs in bed. I got a card from ds that he'd made in school, but not expecting a present. The past 3 mothers days dp forgot about so really don't have high hopes for anything anymore. I do get to drive to my mums house and drop her gift off though and may just drag her round the park for a walk so i'm looking forward to that. Happy Mothers day everyone, look after yourselves.

@Ponyolikesham Flowers I've been in this position 7 times now and there's no day like today to make an absolute shit thing even shittier - I hope you get to go for your walking set up when you can, wishing you lost of luck.
