Scared to live next to these neighbours

I have an ongoing issue with neighbours and partying. They are known to police and social services.

I reported them tonight, I contacted under a non-urgent line and explained I didn't know how many people where in the house but it sounded like a lot. Officer sent blue lights, as I had heard smashing. This isn't uncommon at that address.

Police came and things subsequently calmed down and I don't actually think there was that many people in the house. I wasn't malicious calling either, it sounded like a night club and it's not an isolated incident

Neighbour is fuming, can hear her raging.

I just fee scared to live here, we can't approach them as she's been violent and threatening in the past. I've got a 17 month old and I'm pregnant and I'm so miserable.

I'm trapped in a mortgage until I finish my degree in 2023, I have visions of a brick flying through the window and hurting my son. I would not put this past her.

I am so scared to be here and I hate living like this.

Does anyone have any experience of this, does it get better?

Does she own the property or is it rented or HA ? You can check deeds via the land registry online portal for £3 ish ?

Don’t let them make you feel scared in your own home. What they are doing is unacceptable, with or without a pandemic she needs to consider if her actions would upset neighbours. Don’t feel worried about what she might do, first she would have to prove it was you who reported her. If she becomes threatening then call the police each time, try and record it if you can. If you find out who her landlord is if she doesn't own then report it to them. You have every right to feel safe and happy in your own home, don’t let her bully or intimidate you. I am going through a similar thing so I know how you feel and I know it’s easier said than done, but they are not entitled to make you feel this way. I am in the process of trying to move as I’m being bullied out of my home but it’s proving difficult and I feel angry and bitter I am having to leave because of them. If I knew what I know now then I would have fought it all the way before it got out of hand and they would have been the ones to leave. Don’t give up, things will get better.

Your course of action will really be influenced by if they are homeowners, renters or HA tenants. Do what chillibeansauce has written in the first instance.

If you report as a noise nuisance to the council then when you sell you have to declare a neighbour dispute. This will make your property harder to sell as will put off some buyers.

There are already agencies involved which is good.

When I was a student I rented a flat, the neighbour was very noisy. At week three DH who was then my BF was going to go round and have a word but it suddenly stopped. Turned out they had jumped bail and had been found and arrested.

This is awful. Is there anyway you could port your mortgage and move? Some lenders let you have up to a years break without penalty so you could pay back the mortgage after you sell and then rent.

Noisy neighbours ruin your mental health and you've got the physical treatment as well

Get a ring doorbell so you can see if something happens

Also, always report to police. If she starts to get multiple visits when there's smashing/noise/people in the house she's LESS likely to think it's just a one off.
