Which is the best brand for period pants?

I’m thinking of switching to period pants to prevent leaks during the night. Can anyone recommend any tried and tested brands? Are there any you didn’t like? How many pairs did you buy? There are so many different types it’s hard to decide.

I've just started using Flux period pants. I've now got three pairs although just bought one pair to try to begin with. I like them but have only used them during the day and haven't tried overnight yet.

NannyR · 13/03/2021 16:11

I've only tried one brand, so can't compare, but the ones I've got are from cheeky pants and I've been very pleased with them. I chose them as they were more reasonably priced than modibodi and they had a moneyback guarantee if you didn't get on with them.
They are fairly generously sized - I'm size 16-18 but the 14-16 fit me fine. My only problem with them is that they take ages to airdry after washing - I couldn't wash them at night and have them ready to wear the next day.

I have some from Cheeky Wipes, about a year old now which have now begun to fall apart. Washed as per instructions but have had two pairs start to have loose threads (a huge clump). Another design, with a cute elastic crisscross design on hips, the elastic has stretched and I will need to repair them. Annoying as not cheap to buy.

Asides from that, they are very comfortable, little bit of a crinkle noise to them though.

Thanks I’ll take a look at the Flux and cheeky ones. Is it better to go for a smaller size for a more snug fit? Currently wearing size 16-20 (had lots of new size 20 pants then lost weight). Has anyone tried the Modibodi? Are they worth the extra cost.

I have modibodi and cheeky wipes. Modibodi are infinitely nicer. CW is quite crinkly and I feel they go baggy after a few washes although both brands have never had any leaks. Modibodi feel much more like tighter fitting normal knickers and have been worth the extra cost. I just bought a few pairs and then a pack of 3 cheeky wipes for my lighter days as modibodi alone is quite pricey!

yuyubooboo · 14/03/2021 00:52

In terms of sizing I think the cheeky wipes came up fairly big but they may have lost their elastic in the wash slightly tbh

GinasGirl · 14/03/2021 01:05

I've been really pleased with Sainsbury's period pants. I find them true to size. I have bought several pairs so that I don't have to worry if I've washed a pair and they're not quite dry the next day.

Houseofvelour · 14/03/2021 01:29

I have tsunami periods so I bought myself a couple of pairs of Modibodi to wear at night (with a super absorbent pad as well) to stop me leaking onto the bed.

They're really comfortable and so far have done the job.
I use the 'heavy overnight' pants but I can honestly say that I doubt they would hold all of my flow.

Floobydo · 14/03/2021 08:02

Modibodi are definitely worth the extra compared to cheeky wipes.

I started with cw and they are fine but modibodi are a league above - the cw ones are relegated to night time only last resort now!

rc22 · 14/03/2021 09:21

I'm a 14-16 and got the Flux ones in a 14. They're quite a snug fit but not at all uncomfortable. I think they need to be snug to prevent leaks. I think they have sizing advice on the website and tell you which size to buy according to your hip measurement.

horizontilting · 14/03/2021 11:46

Modibodi are very effective and comfortable - I've used them for years and initially recommended them highly . The problem is quality. You can get lucky and get pairs with no issues. Or you can get pairs which develop holes in gussets/panels/seams. Or seams that come apart. Etc. Trust pilot gives a good insight into all the quality problems you can encounter.

I recently gave up on them after I reached the tipping point of too many unusable pairs. At that price, it was getting too expensive to play pants lottery.

seepingweeping · 14/03/2021 11:57

Do these work for urine leaks or is that a separate product?

Whatwouldscullydo · 14/03/2021 12:07

I would recommend modi bodi or wuka.

Cheeky wipes are OK but I don't wear out the house cos they are kinda crinkly as a pp said.

Shopaholic100 · 14/03/2021 23:21

Are Modibodi Classic or Sensual better?

OP posts:
Psychobobble · 14/03/2021 23:22

I have cheeky wipes and modibodi and there is no comparison. Modibodi far far superior. In fact they are my favourite knickers and are incredibly comfortable.

lalafafa · 14/03/2021 23:56

How often do you change them? Can you wear them all day?

Fluffy14 · 15/03/2021 00:27

I've been using Modibodi for 3/4 months now and love them. I've only leaked a couple of times but its 95/100 reliable. I bought the maxi 24 hour/overnight one's as a set of 5 for about £109. They do last for up to 8 hours and I've a pretty heavy flow. Yes they are very pricey but it's worth the cost when you consider the sleepless nights and insecurity of leakage against the peace of mind it gives. We've been in lockdown so I've only worn it in the comfort of my own home. I don't know how different it will feel being out and about at work all day in one pair of undies, so I'd probably double up with a moon cup. Hope this helps.

MrsFionaCharming · 15/03/2021 00:31

I like the Sainsbury’s ones. But make sure to buy the period ones, I accidentally bought some urine leak ones, and assumed they’d do the same, but they’ve both started falling apart.

Shopaholic100 · 15/03/2021 00:37

Fluffy did you buy the classic or Sensual? How did you find the sizing? I wanted to try a pair of the maxi/24 hour ones but they’re out of stock at the moment. I want to buy the maxi24 multipack but am unsure about the sizing.

OP posts:
Fluffy14 · 15/03/2021 00:53

I bought the classic. I'm a size M/12 and bought a 12, however I felt they may have been just ever so slightly big as they appear bulky at first because the padding goes to the top of the pants. My viewpoint now is that 12 is the right size as there is nothing worse than knickers that are too tight. With the Maxi 24, which I have even though you buy the set you can mix and match sizes but it is pretty true to size. Defo keep checking their website for offers. But honestly, as someone who used to lose sleep and get stressed over frequent unexpected leaking, this brand is a breath of fresh air. Again, it's expensive but worth it as it should do the trick.

Shopaholic100 · 15/03/2021 09:38

Thanks that’s really helpful. I’ll just wait for the Modibodi maxi to come back in stock, probably start with 2/3 and then buy more.

OP posts:
SherryPalmer · 15/03/2021 09:44

I like the Modibodi seamless style. When they first arrive they seem impossibly small/tight but they magically stretch to fit once you wash them.
I only use them as back-up so no idea how absorbent they are but they are nice to wear.

AnneListersHat · 15/03/2021 09:49

I've recently bought Modibodi and I'm not impressed. I have a heavy flow so I bought the appropriate ones for nightime. I found them uncomfortable as they feklt very plasticy and they seems to leak through the material on the gusset.
That said, my teen DD has reported no problems.

Shopaholic100 · 16/03/2021 19:57

I’ve bought a pair of the Modibodi sensual and classic each to try. I think they have a 60 day trial for 1 pair, so I’ll see how it goes. They are both back in stock today in various sizes if anyone else is interested.

I don’t need them for all the time just on the heaviest day, so two should be ok to start with.
