Ebay Seller saying I have raised a claim four days ago for something I bought before Christmas! I haven't!

I bought my friends daughter some crayons for Christmas with her name on. I don't think I left feedback though.
I've just had an angry message from the seller saying I raised a dispute four days ago when I know I haven't. He sent me a link which says I have but I've checked my dispute page and I havent. He said it would cost him £20 to sort it out which I very much doubt as the crayons cost just over £4.
He's now got the raging hump with me and is reporting me to Ebay. What shall I do?

Let him knock himself out. Ebay can see what's gone on in your account. Sounds like a weird scam?

Elderflower14 · 13/03/2021 13:55

Seller has asked me to see if I have had a refund which I haven't. I also told them that no one else has access to my account and I've changed my password. I have definetly not raised a dispute. Its very odd.

Well if you were going to 'scam' for a refund, you would have made it worth your while surely. Dunno. No experience of this particular one, but bumping for you.

Send a screenshot from your end and say it wasn’t you but please go ahead and report to eBay as something strange is happening

TopTabby · 13/03/2021 14:29

Ignore & block if possible, there's some strange people on ebay.
It could be a scam, if enough people pay £20 it could be worth his while?
Ebay generally side with buyers, I'd be surprised if he takes it any further.

HeavenlyEyes · 13/03/2021 14:31

£20 for what exactly?
think he is telling porkies

Tartyflette · 13/03/2021 14:34

He is either telling porkies as a PP says or has confused you with another buyer.
Let eBay sort it out.

BerniesMittens · 13/03/2021 15:05

He may have been mistakenly told by eBay there's been a credit card chargeback by you and he's responsible for the fee due to the credit card company to investigate (about £14)

This happened to me as a seller a couple of years ago, the buyer was as mystified as me, and eventually, eBay advised me there was no case and that was the end of the matter.

Mistakes can and do happen. I wouldn't worry about it as you've done nothing to cause this.

DuchenneParent · 13/03/2021 15:11

I ignore most eBay direct messages from other users. Save yourself the stress and stop reading his messages, he can rage to eBay if he likes and they can sort him out.

They have gone quiet now so hopefully thats the end of it!

What did the link he sent you say?

DianaT1969 · 14/03/2021 04:57

Don't click on any links that strangers send you. It can lead to malware being downloaded to your device.

I'd be concerned about this too. I would probably run some antivirus to check nothing unusual turned up and then change my passwords, just to be on the safe side.

They were screenshots not links..
