Need to make myself poo before I go out in half an hour

72 replies

Really hoping the name change has worked

Am going out to meet a friend in half an hour. Its an hour's walk there, then round a park with her for at least am hour, then an hour back. There are no loos anywhere.

I've had a dodgy tummy for the last few days and know I have to poo before I go out. I once didn't do so in similar circumstances and ended up having to fork out lots for a taxi home because the need was so sudden and urgent. I don't think I have ibs as it doesn't happen all the time, but enough to interfere with my life when there are no loos.

So I need to poo before going out. Have had two pints water and two black coffees and nothing. I really don't want to cancel/be late because of this. I hate that public loos and cafes are closed as this would have been such a non issue before lockdown.

Any ideas?

This happens to me too. How did you get on OP?

Borogroves · 13/03/2021 13:37

This makes no sense to me. You are scared of needing to poo whilst you are out for three hours with no access to toilets however you have drunk a huge amount of fluids. You must have an enormous bladder if you can hold that for three hours!

I have unpredictable bowels and won't eat anything before I go for a long walk. If I can't poo then I walk round and round the house before I go out and that normally gets things moving!

EggBobbin · 13/03/2021 13:57

@greatauntfanny we’ve all been there!

Straighttalking1 · 13/03/2021 14:10

In future, liquid and exercise..... maybe a short walk round the block before she comes.

I mean, a few stains here and there for sure, but I’m yet to go out fully intending to torpedo my pants

Meowchickameowmeow · 13/03/2021 14:15

@Needapoobeforegoingout

Have asked her if we can push it back for an hour.
The meeting or the poo?!
Practicalprat · 13/03/2021 15:07

Oh god sugar free polos,I forgot they did that.

ElderMillennial · 13/03/2021 15:26

Fruit juice and water helps but as PPs have said you will need to pee so you need to be doing this hours before you go out.

Moving about might help.

It does sound like IBS or something like that. The anxiety of being out without being able to go to the loo could be causing it.

@Crankley

Seriously, you needed a poo so what do you do? Of course, create a thread on MN. Is nothing private any more and WTF do you assume anyone here gives a shit?
I give a shit. So does OP (albeit a poorly timed one, in her pants, on a walk).
Suzi888 · 13/03/2021 16:40

With all those liquids your going to need a wee anyway! Confused

AlwaysLatte · 13/03/2021 16:43

God what a thread.

Yes to sugar free sweets. I ate a large quantity without realising they were sugar free.. I was at a house viewing when my stomach first gurgled and I realised what was going on. I had to drive to my poor parents house which was much closer than mine and ended up stuck in their bathroom all afternoon. Never will touch those sweets again

If its happening for a few days a couple of times a month thats quite a lot of your life thats ruled by your bowels.

Go to your doctor. If its not illness surely yoyou'just take some immodium? If it is illness you shouldn't be meeting your friend

storminabuttercup · 13/03/2021 16:57

Surely all these things are going to make you more likely to need a poo while out. I'd take a couple of loperamide but it's prob too late now!

ShirleyPhallus · 13/03/2021 17:09

Just pack out the seat of your underwear with sanitary towels
And... poo herself?

This properly made me laugh

Mysillystory · 13/03/2021 17:13

Cam2020 · 13/03/2021 18:09

You need some sugar free gummy bears in future. Check out the Amazon reviews and thanke later 😂

ElderMillennial · 13/03/2021 19:09

Did you manage to go out OP?

sessell · 13/03/2021 19:26

Hope you managed OP! Just to add that this has become normal for me post menopause. I eat more healthily as well and am more 'regular' ie. Daily/ mornings. I've had to delay walks with friends a couple of times as I knew I wouldn't be able to wait! This seems to be quite normal among women I know in their 50s. Maybe it's a hormones thing.

redorderlig · 13/03/2021 19:30

Why have you started this thread ? It's ridiculous.
