Oh my god, why can’t I sleep after 6am?

I am so tired and I have absolutely nothing to do.

For the past couple of months I’ve woken up at 6am and nothing seems to let me sleep in longer. I’ve tried getting drunk, staying up to midnight, no screen time, having a good sleep routine and now I’m still awake 😩

I'd like to know that too! Annoying isn't it.

I find it gets better when the clocks change. I’m rolling with it till then.

5am for me. Even sleep meditation apps don't help.

Stress related I think. I was taking anti anxiety tablets but had to stop. Im off to the pharmacy today to ask for help.

I'm utterly exhausted.

I think this is quite normal as you get older. It certainly is for me. Sorry OP!

My ds has spent the last 10 years training me to be awake by 6am. I quite like it now. Just get up and have a cuppa.

DearlyIgnored · 13/03/2021 07:13

I’ve had my tea. I wonder if it is stress.

It’s just particularly draining on a day like today. I’ve got housework to do but that’s it. My workplace has had a covid outbreak so I’m not going to shops or seeing anyone. Just so so dull. I’d rather be asleep!

I think this year is slightly worse though and not to bring everything back to coronavirus but.....lots of studies have been showing that our sleep quality has been really impacted. Even low levels of stress, anxiety and even just the constant requirement to adapt to all the changes really hits the quality of our sleep.

Better sleep hygiene may help marginally on this....dark room, hot bath before bed, no food at least 3 hours before bed etc. But then also some stress relief stuff like meditation just to really bring up how you personally have taken on all the stresses and strains of the past year

I like it, actually. I'm at my most energised first thing in the morning and so can get loads done.

DearlyIgnored · 13/03/2021 07:18

It can’t be long hntil the clocks change now. Maybe that will help!

Could it be peri-menopause related? Speaking from current experience.
