Carrying toddler in early pregnancy

So here goes I decided a trip to the woods yesterday was a good idea, well it rained like never before and then we got lost! I had to carry my 2 year old toddler who isn’t light I’m 10 weeks pregnant and my stomach feels so tender since my arms feels like I’ve spent a week in the gym, my mum has had a moan at me saying I can’t do that etc I’m worried could I have caused something to go wrong ? Or purely just muscle aches ?

It’s just that your ligaments are more flexible and it’s easier to hurt your back etc. You sound like you’re fine!

I carry my 2 yo around half the day! (he's very clingy) and I'm 11 weeks. It does feel tender but I think carrying around your first child is simply unavoidable and I can't imagine the human race would have got too far if that would have hurt a pregnancy. Smile
Congratulations and you'll be fine Flowers

Yes it’s funny in your first pregnancy no one will let you carry anything but in your second you are usually carrying around a squirmy toddler and for third pregnancy you’re giving your 5 year old a piggy back and carrying number 2!
If you have any concerns though speak to your GP

It will be fine.

My mum has told me off for lifting stuff (lawnmower, shopping bags) but doesn't seem to have a problem with me lifting my four year old. Actually really annoys me!

Everyone does it but be careful of yourself. I had SPD in my second pregnancy when hadn’t had anything in my first. I went to group physio class and everyone had a 2 or 3 yo. I added a prolapse to that after lifting the baby in the car seat. I think your ligaments are just much stretchier for later pregnancies and it is easier to damage you yourself.
