Mother's Day for mum in late 50s

It's Mother's Day on Sunday and I have a card for my mum but nothing else as I don't know what to buy for her.

Flowers - maybe but I'd like something more long lasting
A plant - maybe but not sure she'd enjoy this
Jewellery - anything I want to buy her is a bit over my budget. I'd like to spend no more than £100. I thought about a voucher for that amount from a shop she usually shops at but they don't seem to do vouchers.
Beauty items - I often buy her make up or skincare but can't think of anything now she might want or need

She doesn't really have any hobbies other than occasionally knitting and she doesn't do crafts or anything.

I wouldn't buy her clothes as I wouldn't know what to buy.

£100 IOU for lunch with my daughter when this hellishness is over is what I would want, 🍸

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 12/03/2021 20:33

I'm that age-I've asked for plants and bits for the garden.

I'd love an IOU for a meal out-or a nice takeaway and a bottle of wine together.

but I def wouldn't want you to spend £100 unless you are minted and probs not even then it really is the thought that counts

I will take her out anyway when we can go out. One of the things I'm looking forward to most is a meal out with my parents.

I've ordered something now.

Thank you Smile

Mid 50s mum here. I'm hoping for dinner cooked and some seeds or plants for the garden

I don't live with my Mum so I won't be cooking.

My mum is in her late 50s and I'm in my late 30s.

Hi I’m the same age as your mum. My son bought me a necklace that had the infinity symbol on it and my parents ( his grandparents) names on . It was delicate and so out of the blue but made really special because my mother had died only 2 months before. I normally get some flowers so he really pushed the boat out!
2 others gifts I really loved were an electric diffuser from white company , my favourite present at Christmas that I didn’t know I wanted and a years subscription to a glossy mag. I smile every week it arrives.

ElderMillennial · 12/03/2021 20:47

They sound like lovely gifts @Ahwig

I'm in my fifties, I'm more than happy to receive a card. Ideally I would get to spend the day with my adult children but that isn't going to happen.

Gottalovesummer · 12/03/2021 21:00

Gosh I can think of loads of things. . Lovely new plump cushions.. . Throw/blanket for the sofa... a more expensive than usual face moisturiser. . .voucher for haircut and colour. . . Donation to favourite charity. . . What did you decide in the end?

QueenOfTheDoubleWide · 12/03/2021 21:01

What about something like this. It's a wrap or a scarf or a poncho which is lovely, stylish and practical
I have several and love them

Sounds like you’ve got it sorted but in case anyone else is struggling, my mum has similar tastes, I bought a silk pillowcase and a Beauty Pie candle.

@ElderMillennial
That looks like the perfect gift, beautiful flowers, and amazing chocolates which are sure to make her smile! Well done you! 🌷 🌷 🌷🌷 🌷
