Can you help me word an email about a job?

I was offered a job on the phone last week after an interview day, and they said 'great we will get that in writing tomorrow'
I haven't heard from them since, and wanted to nudge them to get it in writing so I have that security. It's school job if that's useful. How can I word that email?

Thanks

Dear XXXX

Thank you for your call on XXXX regarding the role of XXXX following my interview on XXXX. As confirmed during our call, I would like to take your offer of employment.

I'd be very grateful if you could confirm the terms of the offer including acknowledgment of my acceptance of your offer via telephone, whether any further checks are necessary, when I might expect to receive a contract of employment and a timescale regarding employment start date.

I look forward to hearing back from you in due course.

Kind regards

XXXXX

Dear (xyz)

Further to your verbal offer of employment last week, I wanted to get in touch to say how pleased I am to be joining your team.

I haven't received an offer letter from you as yet. This is my email address and contact details if you need them.

I look forward to hearing from you soon,

Your sincerely/kind regards

Or call them. Personally I'd call them

MorePotatoSalad · 10/03/2021 20:58

Are you leaving another job to take up the role?

lljkk · 10/03/2021 21:00

I agree that calling them has merits over email.

I can compose emails for hours, but a phone call makes sense here.

"I was hoping to hear something in writing by now. Can you tell me when to expect a formal offer?"

I hope they aren't messing you about.

MorePotatoSalad · 10/03/2021 21:01

@Nohomemadecandles is good as its saying it was verbal and asking for their confirmation letter rather than saying you will take it up.

It annoys me when employers do this, as if you were leaving another job you can't be expected to hand in your notice until their offer is in writing. That way lies anxiety.

hermionieweasley · 10/03/2021 22:36

Yes I will need to leave my current role for this one. I will phone the head teachers pa tomorrow morning I think. Thanks all

Did you phone, what did they say?

CoRhona · 11/03/2021 20:55

I'm sure they aren't messing you about but schools can be notoriously slow.

monkeymaya · 11/03/2021 21:28

Hi
Is it a secondary school.
Schools atm are extremely busy, especially secondary Schools due to lateral flow covid tests.

If you have not worked in the school before, they are extremely busy environments & lots of multitasking involved. If you are going for a part time role - you will end up doing a full time job in part time hours.
That’s the opinion of myself and my colleagues.

I would call the school & follow up with an email.

Good luck with your new role..

Hi,

Thank you for your help, all. Before I had a chance to call or email a written contract and lovely letter came through the post. I know schools are very busy, and I'm not new the professions but thank you for your advice!
