Affordable websites to buy books

I'm a huge bookworm and am constantly buying books. I usually get them from the library, but libraries close by have been closed since Christmas. Anyway I love books and am always looking for places to buy them that aren't too expensive as generally I just read them once and then donate them or give them away.

World of Books is great, DP gets all his books from there. They are second hand and usually about £4 or £5

I get books second hand from eBay. I usually pay about £3-4 including postage.

Was going to say the same! Fabulous App, you can borrow e books and audio books directly and reserve physical books.

It's been a great discovery for me.

I used to buy used on Amazon, but have found eBay often have the same sellers but with free postage so works out much cheaper. It’s a godsend as I’m a massive reader and go through so many a month!

A kindle can pay for itself if you keep an eye on offers, because they have a good range of books (proper ones, not self published rubbish) for 99p. If you don't plan to use it on the beach, spa, pool, bath etc, the cheapest one is more than fine.

I've bought hundreds at that price and have so many unread books that I don't allow myself to pay more.

For example, I got Caitlin Moran's latest book earlier this week.

Do you not have a free library near you? Pop a post on your local FB page I bet you'll get loads of offers as people can't take things to the charity shop atm

hippychick11 · 11/03/2021 19:22

@KenAdams I'm in Ireland and they don't reopen until April. Just came across a great book swap group on Facebook though so it sounds good

I subscribe to Scribd on my iPad. £10 per month for unlimited books and sheet music.
